For whatever reason, the overall shapes of your favorite retro silhouettes often end up different from the OG releases. Recent New Balance 1500 issues have been a bit round in the toes for those that have followed the brand for a while, despite keeping things at home with the Flimby production. Anyways, if you’re not feeling that shape and you want something more in tune with the flat-footed look then check this quick re-shaping custom. All that it took was ripping open the toe box and doing a little bit of surgery and you’ve got a much more original looking New Balance 1500 silhouette. See the transformation below and let us know if you prefer the “after” to the “before” here.

Parisian boutique Starcow teases a forthcoming collaboration with New Balance UK, and we’re going to go out on a limb and guess it’s a running shoe. You can’t quite see which silo corresponds to these two insoles, though they do suggest that we’re about to see a duo of Starcow x New Balance runners, whose ‘UK’ tag means more fantastic Flimby Factory quality. Stick with Sneaker News for the full reveal on these digi-camo-insoled collabs and let us know if you have a favorite NB model you’d like to see these represent.

United Arrows has been incredibly busy in 2013 with the collaboration stuff. The latest one that’s set to release is this, a New Balance 1500 that gets washed over with a sandy beige look. The mesh treatments are super minimal on this one, as suede is made to dominate the upper. It’s worth noting that the pair is not of UK origin, so just in case you’re a Flimby purist then you’ve been warned. Get an extra angle on the United Arrows x New Balance 1500 after the jump and keep in mind that Premier is one of the select shops that will be stocking them this Saturday, April 11th.

Just as the Windbreaker Pack sees its theme perfectly matched with outdoor activities in the warming season, the New Balance 574 ‘Yacht Pack’ keeps on rolling with more new colorways. This one is tagged 574YCM for its place in the boating-inspired set, but the box label belies the subtle complexity at work in the mix of grey suede and powder blue mesh plus orange and navy accents. Click through to see more details including the ticked laces and fairly uncommon blue outsole, then grab yours at NB retailers like Feature.

If the New Balance 574 ‘Yacht Club’ has its roots in the stellar ‘Kennedy’ 999s by Concepts, this one seems to be the most closely related. This latest seafaring 574 is considerably bolder than the aforementioned CNCPTS collab with a red and royal blue makeup, and blends these two primary colors together nicely with the soft blue shade that’s served this pack so well on a few different styles. Click through so you can see more to compare these to the other Yacht Club 574s, then grab a pair at NB retailers like Feature.

The beauty of this partership which includes New Balance and Junya Watanabe is that the latter’s simplistic design approach matches the 1600 model to a tee. Junya Watanabe opts for a clean white/beige layered upper, which is pretty much the signature for any New Balance Running sneaker and especially for the rejuvenated 1600 model. Using a fine mix of leather and suede. this latest New Balance 1600 collaboration speaks to the muted design concept that has been a Junya trademark – but would you prefer a little bit more of a color profile? Check out the details below and head to overseas shop Zozovilla for a purchase as they have a limited run in stock now.

Since its introduction in 1897, the Boston Marathon was an event that celebrated the incredible accomplishments of thousands of runners who tested not only their physical capabilities, but also the human “will” to run an unthinkable 26.2 mile stretch of road. During this annual event, friends and family gather to support their loved ones who gallantly pound the pavement for hours, embracing the finish line with an unstoppable rush of pride that is typically accompanied by super-human feats. This Monday’s Boston Marathon running, as we all know, was marred by a despicable act of inhuman terrorism – three dead, and hundreds injured as a result of an unthinkable act that rocked the nation. After events like these, we’re left confused and desperate for answers while appreciating the value of human life, but the human spirit kicks in and the desire to lend a hand victoriously rises – that’s been the American way for centuries.
Here’s one way to help: Packer Shoes in New Jersey is donating all the proceeds from the sales of the New Balance “Boston Marathon” Pack directly to the Boys and Girls Club in Dorchester, MA, located in the hometown of eight-year-old victim Martin Richard who died Monday while waiting for his father to cross the finish line. Every single penny from the sale of both the mens and women’s New Balance 890BOS and 990BOS between April 18th and the 22nd will be paid forward to assist an area shaken by tragedy. Read Packer Shoes’ words below and do your part to contribute by purchasing one of the pairs at Packer Shoes tomorrow beginning at 3pm EST.
