Since its introduction in 1897, the Boston Marathon was an event that celebrated the incredible accomplishments of thousands of runners who tested not only their physical capabilities, but also the human “will” to run an unthinkable 26.2 mile stretch of road. During this annual event, friends and family gather to support their loved ones who gallantly pound the pavement for hours, embracing the finish line with an unstoppable rush of pride that is typically accompanied by super-human feats. This Monday’s Boston Marathon running, as we all know, was marred by a despicable act of inhuman terrorism – three dead, and hundreds injured as a result of an unthinkable act that rocked the nation. After events like these, we’re left confused and desperate for answers while appreciating the value of human life, but the human spirit kicks in and the desire to lend a hand victoriously rises – that’s been the American way for centuries.
Here’s one way to help: Packer Shoes in New Jersey is donating all the proceeds from the sales of the New Balance “Boston Marathon” Pack directly to the Boys and Girls Club in Dorchester, MA, located in the hometown of eight-year-old victim Martin Richard who died Monday while waiting for his father to cross the finish line. Every single penny from the sale of both the mens and women’s New Balance 890BOS and 990BOS between April 18th and the 22nd will be paid forward to assist an area shaken by tragedy. Read Packer Shoes’ words below and do your part to contribute by purchasing one of the pairs at Packer Shoes tomorrow beginning at 3pm EST.

If the Cole Haan/Nike stuff isn’t sneaker-y enough for your tastes then try this, the INVINCIBLE x New Balance 1400 “Brogue”. The pair puts on a more dress shoe look on the upper while keeping the classic New Balance 1400 silhouette intact. It doesn’t appear to be of the Made in USA persuasion, something we’ve been spoiled by thanks to the nonstop J.Crew collabs, but the premium details are still there what with the navy suede and the beautiful tan leather lining. Check out some extra angles on the INVINCIBLE x New Balance 1400 “Brogue” below and watch for them soon at spots like Titolo.

The WMNS category is getting a little bit of collab love from New Balance in the form of this 996 pair. The sneaker was whipped up by the Beauty & Youth folks, who have been hard at work with a ton of collabs from all over the sneaker world as of late. The ladies colorway is a being/pink/gold affair, one that keeps branding on the insoles in typical, lowkey New Balance fashion. See the full shots right after the jump and lookout for this gold tinted NB pair at stores like Hanon this Saturday, April 20th. Also, stay tuned in case they make their way to US shops.

It seemed for a while the New Balance 574 had fully transitioned from the ‘Windbreaker’ pack to the ‘Yacht Club’ editions. This would have been par for the course after last year’s ‘Backpack’ collection started this run of large, themed packs. But instead of a clean-cut succession, these new 574s channel a bit of that Backpack energy by recharging for a second go-round. This new navy and vibrant blue edition is intriguing as compared to the earlier Windbreakers in thanks to its dark base and its vivid tonal accents, so check them out in greater detail below, then grab yours from NB retailers like Concepts.

New Balance ‘Made in USA’ releases are held to a high quality standard that on occasion results in the product arriving at retail a bit later than expected. In this case, they must have done a perfect job the first time, because here we see a new style dropping today that was slated for next month. The New Balance 996 blends a cloud of (near-) whites with healthy portions of reflective silver and just a hint of navy and red for a traditional masculine finish. Let us know how these compare to the navy edition that just released last week and grab yours at select retailers like Concepts.

Over the past few years, increasing reliance upon synthetic materials has conferred to performance running shoe designers the ability to go far out with their coloring treatments. It’s in this climate that something like the ‘Boston Marathon’ 990v3 stands out with its simple yet vibrant build, but that in no way means you won’t break necks in one of these overtly ostentatious colorways. The New Balance 890v3 is also bolder than its counterpart from that Paul Revere pack thanks to an all-over tie-dye approach that leaves the upper a marbled rainbow. Check them out below, let us know what you think and keep an eye out because they should be available soon.

After Sneaker Freaker’s ‘Tassie Devil’ left US sneakerheads wanting, it’s time for a fresh New Balance 998 to quench our collective thirsts. This one is separate from the ‘Day Tripper’ pack that dropped for spring, but makes a connection as an approximate inversion of the set’s 1500 as applied to that 998′s blocking template. Put another way, this is time-tested Americana with a colorful punch, and you can add a new cornerstone to your summertime rotation with this pair available now at NB retailers including Concepts.
