It’s no big stretch to say that the “Kennedy” version injected a new lifeblood into the New Balance 999. It should be no surprise then that subsequent releases for the silhouette have had just a little bit of that DNA. This new group for example sticks with the nautical looking laces and the nylon panel wrapping the heel (Save for the red pair, which is sort of the odd man out here). Continue reading for a full preview of the Spring 2014 lineup for this small-N silhouette and then tell us in the comments if you’re trying to chase down any of these New Balance pairs.

New Balance MT580 – April 2014 Releases

new balance mt580 april 2014 01 New Balance MT580 April 2014 Releases

Is the original form of the New Balance MT580 all but retired?  We saw it in Elite Edition form for the recent ‘Barbershop Pack’, but all of the releases since and most before it in recent months have featured the REVlite cushioning update.  These newest pairs present a bit of intrigue as well, as they come with the classic ’580′ tongue tags, whereas the REVlite editions have said as much, and with embroidery directly on the tongue mesh.  Flip them over, though, and the new midsole material’s logo is stamped on the bottom, which confirms a variety of branding techniques can be used on this MRT580.  Click in to see more photos of both pairs and stick with Sneaker News to see if they release at US retailers.

New Balance has never been afraid to blend some of their new technology into their classic sneaker models. They’re doing that quite a bit for the new “Summer Solution” collection – the group features the New Balance 996 rebuilt with the Revlite technology and an updated New Balance 574 that’s got the Minimus kit on the bottom. Of course if you can’t get on board with those remixes, there is a dosage of straightforward New Balance 574 style in there. Continue reading to see each of the sneakers and then let us know if you’re hoping for a stateside arrival on this group.

Can you ever remember seeing leather on a pair of the New Balance 999 Elite? The 999 in general seems sort of allergic to that material and much more prone to stick to the suedes (And the occasional ripstop panel a la the Kennedys). The good news is that the New Balance in question will soon differentiate just a bit with this April release, which slaps a little bit of leather onto the paneling up top. Take another look at the shoes after the break and watch for continued previews of upcoming New Balance goodies right here on Sneaker News.

new balance 999 cherry blossom New Balance 999 Cherry Blossom Pack

The New Balance 999 is a model that’s been seen more often than not in the Elite Edition build as of late. Ditching that frame and instead rocking with the more standard one is this slick set of ladies releases titled the “Cherry Blossom” pack. The group is built on a base of the classic tonal grey New Balance approach and later injected with some sparing hits of pink in the various panels of the two pairs. Continue reading for extra images on the women’s only New Balance 999 “Cherry Blossom Pack” and pray that these make it to the US.

New Balance has a very impressive slate of releases on tap for the summer 2014 season.  A key part of this set is new colorways for a model that in recent months has seen a priority placed on its REVlite update.  But these are the classic ‘Made in USA’ New Balance M996s, the model that debuted a little over a quarter century ago and still has both legit technical prowess and a classic suede and mesh look the likes of which we’d consider quintessential to the genre.  Here are a couple of new colorways that give us brand new blocking patterns, one in black suede and white mesh with a few accent colors and another in tonal blue keeping the brown ‘N’ and heel tab combo going.  Click in to see how the different colors and layouts make for two very different results on the same shoe and be ready for pairs hitting select retailers in April including Hanon.

As is evident in the New Balance “National Parks Pack”, and even the more recent New Balance 1300 – White – Grey – Blue, the most common New Balance 1300 treatment that many have come to love consists of a rather muted color palette with one accent color to bring the shoe to life. This colorway features the aforementioned treatment, using basic tans, cremes, and browns on the vast majority of the upper, with hits of orange in select places like the tongue tab. Are these New Balance 1300s a must have for you? Let us know in the comments and stick with Sneaker News for more.
