It’s changed the meaning of its acronym and offered three different variations on the base design, and now you can customize your very own SFBs on NIKEiD. The Nike Special Forces Field Boot is coming up with a special preview engagement on the Swoosh’s online customization service, which means that starting next Tuesday, January 17th, you’ll be able to play around with combinations of colors, patterns and materials on the Free-soled tough-as-nails super-hightop. Choose from a variety of earthy suedes as your base and either go tonal, high contrast or add a camouflage pattern on the quarter panel and tongue, and vivid laces add an extra degree of custom swag that’s been unprecedented to this point. We’re excited by the potential of seeind other Nike boots available for iDing, and you can get your first taste of the SFB iD in advance of Tuesday’s preview, by clicking on the jump below.

Nike All Conditions Gear took advantage of the momentum created by 2010′s Lunar MacLeay and parlayed that into what’s gotta be the best variety of boots since the golden era, and perhaps in the entire history of the Swoosh’s outdoor division. Models like the Zoom Meriwether, Lava Dunk High and Air Max Conquer ACG have the kind of visual appeal that means you can remain stylish even when the weather threatens your favorite sneakers, this latest release exactly the kind of thing you want working for you when the snow hits the fan. The Nike ACG Manoa is perhaps the simplest execution of all of ACG’s current boot lineup, its smooth, sweeping lines vaguely similar to the classic Goadome, but without any of the visible Max Air cushioning in its soles. This olive green edition adds black and bright orange accents to nail that hunter vibe, and they’re available now at select Nike Sportswear retailers like Oneness.

While the Nike Air Approach certainly is a hybrid, it’s one of the more conservative of hybrids in the Swoosh repertoire, mixing up two models within the same design wing of Nike ACG. The respective models, the Nike Air Magma and the Nike Lava Dome, both have a similar design and approach to materials and the outcome is something like the swoosh and segmented set up from the Lava Dome appropriated onto the overall shape and height of the Air Magma. The result feels pretty natural, with the Nike Air Approach Mid fitting in as a hybrid model that just makes sense. We’ve got a detailed look at this new black and purple colorway, so hit the jump for that and stick with us for more from the ACG front. via mita

It’s one of those names that doesn’t spring to mind as being the most obvious, but the fact is, no matter which name was applied to the Nike WMNS ACG Grassy Short Boot, this design was made to stand out from the pack. It’s an above-the-ankle slip-on design secured by four elastic-corded eyelets and their pull-toggle, and comes complete with the kind of mudguard and traction pattern that let you know this is a serious outdoor machine. And if all that wasn’t sufficiently neck-breaking, All Conditions Gear has crafted these two pairs with eye-catching patterns on their ripstop nylon uppers to ensure you never get lost in a snowdrift. Pharrell proved shortly after their debut that the Nike Zoom Force 1 snowboarding boot can make for an outrageous fashion choice, but even the Arbito-penned collabo version can’t hold a candle to this latest ‘pair’ in terms of sheer audacity. Jewelry designer Osamu Koyama brought his Complete Technique label to work on this insane Zoom Force 1 ‘American Eagle’ project, a golden take on the anime ‘Saint Seiya’ whose look is finished nicely by a removable opal pendant and chain. These weren’t exactly made for riding the slopes, but they probably would indeed shred your wallet; would you buy a solid gold snowboard boot if this ‘American Eagle’ Zoom Force 1 were made available to the public? Let us know what you think of this sculpture and stick with Sneaker News for the latest sneaker-inspired art from around the world including updates on Shoeshine Project 2012. via FRESHNESS

If you’re on the hunt for winter footwear, you’d be ill-advised to pass up all the heat that Nike ACG has been cranking out. Enter the Nike ACG Lava Dunk High, a smooth boot that pairs a chunky sole with the classic Dunk DNA, bringing d-ring fasteners for the laces as another small tweak to the standard Dunk design. The suede pair shown here is one of more neutral Lava Dunks on the market, with the majority of the previous releases wearing bright colors characteristic of the ACG lineup. Hit the jump for a better look and if you like what you see, call up Concepts to lock down a pair for yourself.

Owing to the relative lack of fresh corduroy across the country relative to the expanse of pavement pretty much everywhere you look, Nike Snowboarding is considered the ‘other’ SB as compared to Swoosh Skateboarding, but that won’t stop them from cranking out quality boots each year when the weather starts to get frosty. The latest drop brings in new colorways from two of the last couple years’ standbys and adds another that’s been throughly tested out in the wild. That new model, the Nike Vapen, can be seen to borrow a bit of the ‘cab-forward’ design found in Paul Rodriguez’ latest Nike SB signature, while the Zoom Kaiju‘s removable internal bootie bears more than a passing resemblance to the monster hit Nike Mag 2011 with its high cut and ankle strap. Rounding out the group is a series of new Zoom Force 1s for both men and women, and you can see the entire collection in greater detail when you click on the jump below.
