Nike Flyknit is a new technology that debuted in February 2012. It took an engineering process of four years to perfect the method, which allows for a “second-skin” like fit, maximum breathability, and minimum waste.

Time Magazine has just given a 2012 “year in review” of the best innovations across all industries – a list rife with robots, electric cars, body armor, and flight-enabling suits. Does Nike Flyknit deserve a spot on this list? According to the world’s largest circulated magazine, it certainly does; Time praises Nike’s creation of this single-thread weaved upper, pointing out the incredible lightweight build and waste-free manufacturing methods. Flyknit certainly brought something fresh and new to Nike Running, which spent most the last four years focused heavily on Lunar as its headlining creation. Of course, Nike wasn’t alone in the 2012-born ‘Knit’ concept as adidas unveiled its own PrimeKnit innovation in July, and the legal battle with Nike regarding “first dibs” on the matter has brought another level of awkward tension between the two rival brands. Should Time Magazine have pointed out “Knit” alone while giving praise to both Nike and adidas?

A sneakerhead’s 2012 has been an incredible ride full of probably more heat than any year ever thanks to hugely varied range of new and established styles, and Nike looks to keep the momentum going across the spectrum with some impressive running styles both new and old for the first quarter of next year. Dubbed with the ‘Winter’ seasonal distinction we see interchangeably with the ‘Spring’ moniker, the Swoosh has readied so much good stuff you’re cheating yourself if you don’t take a moment to examine the whole display.
You’ve got the Nike Air Max+ 2013 flagship joined by the Flyknit One+ on the performance side of things, twists to the classics in the form of the first VNTG Air Max 90s and Engineered Mesh Air Max 95s, and somewhere in between is the indomitable Free Run+ 2, arguably the single best all-around (beautiful, comfortable, versatile, accessible, etc.) Nike Frees ever released. There are too many more styles to mention already lined up for Q1, so click through the next few pages to see what’s in store and stick with Sneaker News for release info for your chosen favorites.

It turns out the latest legal battle between Adidas and Nike isn’t quite over, with the injunction filed by Nike in German courts regarding the production of the adidas Primeknit to be set aside. Nike had originally charged Adidas with patent infringement due the similarities in the design and production between their Nike Flyknit series of runners and adidas’ Primeknit pair that debuted just a few months later. German courts are prepared to set the injunction aside as of November 7th, which should allow Adidas to resume production and theoretically deepen the range going forward. Hit the jump with us to see Adidas’ official statement on the matter and let us know what you think of this latest development.

The first releases of the Flyknit back in February came in similar form – a Flyknit upper attached to a Lunar outsole. Although the upcoming Flyknit One opts for a different Lunar mold (resembling the dual-layer version seen in the LunarGlide+ 4), this upcoming model shares the same concept as those first HTM limited releases. These upcoming 2013 releases are likely for the ladies (the tonal pink and blue/pink are of the feminine agenda), but we have a nice side-profile viewing to get an idea of the overall construction. Check ‘em out below and let us know what you think, and stay tuned for more

Among the pairs from the Nike Flyknit collection that have already released, the Nike Lunar platform has been exclusive to the HTM versions, that super lightweight foam landing only on the most limited of pairs. Going forward that outsole will transitiion to a more readily available model, the Nike Lunar Flyknit One+ shown here. Better yet, colorways like this one look to take some liberties with said sole kit, splashing on a sick speckled print. Click through for a gallery of shots on the Nike Lunar One+ and let us know what you think in the comments below.
