The Nike Free technology gets passed around campus on Beaverton quite a bit, being a frequent addition to hybrid models of all sorts. Of course at the end of the day it was built for runners so the majority of the Free-equipped models are going to be just that, like the upcoming Nike Free Haven 3.0. Wearing a bit of a birdcage construction a la the Nike Free Run+ 2, the Haven has a similar potential for killer two toned releases as seen on this black/volt sample. Nike Huarache Free 2012 – Black – Turquoise – Magenta

The Nike Huarache Free Basketball 2012 just released in a new ‘Bright Mango’ colorway that swaps out the original Air Flight Huarache’s purple sections for the signature pink shade. Now imagine taking that palette a couple degrees further by shifting its upper from white to black, then invert the distribution of pink and blue. Take what you’re left with and apply it to the other OG Huarache silhouette (but don’t forget the Free sole) and you get this sick new Nike Huarache Free that might be the strongest new design we’ve seen from either model. Unveiling the Nike Sole

Long before Nike’s catalog became heavy with retro releases and cool-guy collabos, they were a company founded by a group of runners. Their goal was ushering in new technology for runners, a goal which they realized again and again as they helped bring the sport to the masses. That drive still shines through on projects like the Nike Sole, an add-on for the prosthetic leg of world record holding runner and Ironman athlete Sarah Reinertsen. Nike got together with orthopedics company Össur to work on the project, which started as an altered version of the sole package from the Nike Free 5.0, and ended up as a customized multi-layer system that even manages to be environmentally friendly, being constructed of recycled air bags. Nike ‘Black History Month 2012′ – Officially Unveiled

Now that Nike has officially pulled back the curtain on the entirety of their silhouettes in celebration of Black History Month for 2012, we get a little bit of background on the graphic prints that run throughout all the sneakers included in the celebration. Apparently designed with three particular athletic squads in mind (the 1996 USA Basketball Women’s team, the 2002 Brazil Men’s Soccer team, and the 2008 Kenyan Long-Distance Running team), the pattern is meant to be a colorful cross between the beads of Kenya, Brazil’s bright Carnivale holiday, and the tradition of African-American quilt making from the US South. And of course along with the updated info we’re treated to some high quality images of the shoes and apparel, a set which should leave you convinced of just how nice this pack is shaping up to be. Nike Sportswear Black History Month 2012 Collection

Today marks the official start of the nationally recognized Black History Month, and Nike Sportswear looks to do its part in celebration by releasing a commemorative capsule of footwear and apparel fitting of the occasion. Featured in 2012′s Black History Month Collection is the annual staple of the Nike Air Force 1 alongside the Air Max 1, Blazer High, and Huarache Free 2012; each is encapsulated with a Brown/Black colorway with detailing inspired by traditional African weaves and textiles, exemplified by the ‘Uplift’ slogan. In looking at a white and Varsity Maize Dunk High recently, we noted that their relationship to the iconic ‘Goldenrod’ getup is similar to the progression seen from Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG collaborations with Nike over the years.
