The various Nike Lunar equipped NSW shoes that are currently out there are undergoing a bit of a renaissance with respect to the specific set up for the Lunar folds along the bottom. Generally speaking, the pairs have been getting a little bit simpler down there and feature just one crease towards the middle. The newest style to show off that approach is this Nike Lunar Force 1 Leather, which works against the futuristic build a little bit by ditching the Fuse materials for the top. Take another look at this icy pair of Lunar Force 1s after the break and keep in mind that their retail release probably won’t go down till September.

nike lunarglide 6 unveiled Nike Unveils The LunarGlide 6

Nike’s rich history in footwear technology is a testament to how the brand grew to its current state on the legs of innovation alone. In 2008, Nike unveiled its first Lunar-cushioned running shoe called the LunarGlide – an award-winner that has become one of the most trusted shoes in the admittedly crowded industry of running footwear. During that span, Nike has fine-tuned the cushion to become lighter and even more stable and spread it across multiple categories within the brand, eventually becoming almost a standard for its athletic footwear.

Today, Nike unveils the sixth model of the LunarGlide series; with a lighter Lunarlon foam and a more stable upper built with lightweight mesh and soft foam that conforms to the foot. The upper pattern is a natural design that came forth when the designers were aiming to reduce as much weight as possible, and the combination of Flywire (also a 2008 debut) and the supportive heel clip provides the unmatched lock-down during movement. The Nike LunarGlide 6 will officially release in stores on July 12th, but is currently available right now for customization on NIKEiD.

Like so many other recent Swoosh models, the new Nike LunarGlide 6 has made its debut on NIKEiD. First up for the sneakers in terms of options is this “National Pack” set, which is an obvious World Cup tie-in that lets Nike nod to that massive sporting event without having to call it out by name. We’re hoping that the Nike LunarGlide 6 will soon be given a more detailed debut that lays out some of the tech specs on the brand new runner, but if you don’t wanna wait to be convinced, then you can go ahead and make yours now on NIKEiD.

The first time the Mariah was brought back to stores, the classic runners didn’t fare entirely well. After a short run of colorways and a collaboration with UK’s Size?, the Air Mariah and its updated Lunar forms were put back in the archives, only to be brought out again for the second half of 2014. The newer LunarSpeed based shoe gives the shoe a bit more of a technical look (the Air Mariah, at the time, was already advanced in terms of design and materials), with the original Ultramarine colorway keeping it grounded to its roots. Expected to release in July at global retailers, the Nike LunarSpeed Mariah “Ultramarine” will definitely grab more attention than it did four years ago. Give these another look below and stay tuned for more updates.
