Nike Sportswear’s flagship store in New York opened just over a year ago. This project representing both the brand reorganization/renaming (remember ‘Nike Sport Culture’?) and the store itself have done phenomenally well, especially given the current economic climate.
Rather than just resting on their success, the Swoosh would rather, say, head ‘out’ for a treadmill run accompanied by a floor-to-ceiling video display. Clever stuff like this ‘Runner’s Studio’ is what makes Nike’s new store in the Harajuku section of Tokyo immediately indispensable.
The hardwood floors are painted with metallic silver ‘lanes’ so you can run through the store if that’s more your style. You can customize your own kicks in the Nike iD Studio, which is emphasized by a floating display of all-white samples that would have any fan of the Try-Ons series sweeping from joy and envy. The store is fully stocked with all of the current releases, as well as some special limited drops from before. Take a look at the new Nike Harajuku flagship after the jump. via ShoesMaster

Paris is widely regarded as the fashion capital of the world, so as part of their opening at the ‘Librarie’, Nike Sportswear employed local dyemakers 180g to freshen up some of their lifestyle models. Tonal editions of the Flytop, Tennis Classic, and newcomer Nike Flash look quite sophisticated. Meanwhile, what looks to be a nylon Dunk High in bright turquoise compliments a range of electrically-hewn NSW garb and implies we’ll see a brighter side of this collection, possibly come spring. As for now, the more conservative joints will be dropping next Thursday, November 5th at 180g, with additional pairs to sell at NikeParis.

Carrie Mundane pulled the old switcheroo and had us thinking these were a thing of the past. Last year’s single Blazer High and all of the previews before last week suggested the first version we saw was all there was on the way from Cassette Playa. The sudden appearance of an orange-soled release, then, appeared to be a replacement. Turns out, the ‘original’ Nike Dunk High with googly eyes is also hitting retail shelves. These have the same translucent Swooshes but achieve a much darker look. Grab yours today from NikeStore.

This exquisite Nike Air Force 1 High Premium was crafted to commemorate NITRO MIRCOPHONE UNDERGROUND’s 10 years atop Japanese hip-hop. It dropped in all its tonal black elephant print and metallic golden glory weekend before last at just a few select Nike Sportswear retailers including the 21 Mercer St. flagship store, selling out immediately. Looks like that wasn’t the entire stash, since NikeStore now has pairs in stock in most adult men’s sizes.

Last year’s groundbreaking Nike Hyperdunk gave birth to this year’s Hyperize, and now the Makayladunk? It’s less accurate that this colourful sneaker above is an offspring of the Hyperdunk and more the vision of a special girl named Makayla. The young Miss Hansen designed the classic Nike Skinny Dunk High with a multicoloured basketball printed underlay and a dope tonal blue pebbled leather overlay. There is alot going on here, but the white tongue and midsole, black patent leather Swooshes and rainbow coloured laces all help it blend in nicely. Get ready for these to drop in November with the rest of the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection and take a look at some great closeup shots after the jump.

As you probably already know, each year, Nike teams up with the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Oregon for the Doernbecher Freestyle project, where talented young patients get a chance to create some imaginative Nike sneakers to be sold for a very good cause. This years batch of creations is as intriguing as ever thanks to the outside the box approach taken by many of the young designers. For the 2009 collection, there are a variety of different models chosen and each has been given a very unique makeover courtesy of this year’s Doernbecher junior design team. Joining the Air Jordan VI, which we’ve already shown you numerous previews of, will be an Air Force 1, P-Rod III, Air Max Zenyth, Dunk High and Shox NZ. Keep reading after the jump for a better look at each shoe and its designer, and be advised that the collection will hit nationwide Niketown locations as well as NikeStore sometime in mid-November.

Jordan Brand has already celebrated Michael’s induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame last week with a special pack of Hall of Fame-inspired Air Jordan sneakers and now they have just released a related collection of apparel as well. Jordan’s illustrious career is honored with a Black leather letterman’s jacket and a hooded zip-up sweatshirt that list some of Mike’s stats and accomplishments down the sleeves. Joining the outerwear are some like-minded t-shirts. One style pays homage to his 6 rings as well as some individual achievements and the other features an image of MJ’s face that is actually made up of a jumble of numbers that are significant to his career. You can get a closer look at the entire collection after the jump, and if there’s something you’ve gotta have, you can find all this Jordan gear at NikeStore now.
