We’re very early in the product cycle for Paul Rodriguez’ sixth Nike SB signature model, but already a pattern has emerged that seems to invariably result in dope products. The Nike Paul Rodriguez 6 is pictured above in a Midnight Fog and Total Orange colorway that’s blocked identically to the black and Blue Glow joints that arrived last month. These dark upper/pop sole setups are both eye-catching and deceptively versatile, especially with this pair’s orange accents a suitable compliment to all manner of clothing color schemes. You’ll find more photos after the jump below, then grab a pair at retailers like CNCPTS.

“When I got on Nike, it was like the world just opened up. It was insane.”
Nike Skateboarding didn’t start the sneaker craze, but it was certainly the catalyst that made ‘collecting’ into an insane hobby. Already boasting a talented team of riders like Reese Forbes and Danny Supa, Nike SB didn’t go the signature sneaker route until the brand signed on young phenom Paul Rodriguez. In this latest feature called ‘Footnotes’ by The Berrics, P-Rod talks about overall ride with Nike, his favorite signature shoes, his first ever Nike sneakers, and the overall reception of his joining the Swoosh (he addresses the ‘sell-out’ comments), so peep the full video below and if you haven’t caught our interview with Paul Rodriguez last month, check it out here.

In his Sneaker News exclusive interview last week, Nike Skateboarding superstar Paul Rodriguez confided that he’s awed by fellow Swoosh signature athletes like Jordan, LeBron, Kobe, Tiger and Federer. P-Rod likened his ascension to winning the lottery, but instead of a manatee tank controlling the output, Rodriguez reminded us that the R&D at Nike’s disposal easily surpasses most of the smaller brands, combined. That level of detail is readily apparent in the new Nike P-Rod 6, a LunarLon-cushioned lowtop that shows how far this series (and skate aesthetics in general) have come since the original arrived in 2006. Have a closer look at this black and blue colourp after the jump, then find yours at select retailers like Premier.

Eric Koston, Stefan Janoski, Omar Salazar… the Nike SB line boasts an impressive roster of talent with their current lineup of signature models, but in the beginning, there was only one. Despite having six signature Nike models under his belt and just capturing his 4th X Games gold medal, when it comes to his skateboarding success and high-profile sponsorship endorsements, Paul Rodriguez Jr. still feels like a kid who “hit the lotto.” The humble 27 year-old superstar is quite aware of how lucky he is to be living the dream, and there’s no question that he has put in the hard work to get where he is – and not just work on his board.
Paul likes to get very hands on with the design of his signature Nike shoes and it’s clear that he goes all out to ensure the best performance possible. P-Rod knows his shoes inside and out. He knows what he’s looking for and what to ask for, and the results are evident in a solid catalog of shoes that he feels keep getting better and better. We recently had the chance to catch up with Paul to chat about his new shoe, the recently released P-Rod 6, as well as his early days with Nike SB, his all-time favorite sneakers and the eventual legacy of the Nike P-Rod line. For all this and more, continue on for the full Sneaker News interview with Paul Rodriguez after the jump.

Skating isn’t particularly a popular sport out in China, but games involving dice certainly are! Nike has put together a sick China Exclusive ensemble featuring the all-new Nike Paul Rodriguez VI in a cuboid shoe-box, which includes P-Rod’s recently released shoes as well as a set of “skate” dice. Instead of the customary dots usually seen on the six-sided game pieces, you’ll be challenged with some skate tricks like the basic Kick Flip and Back Side, or perhaps you can devise your own game where you have to combine the two moves! The “Skate Dice” Box will be released at select Nike skateboarding retailers in the greater China region and will be limited to just sixty units, so check out what Nike put together below and let us know what you think. via i-size

When you consider something like the Jordan CMFT series’ place in the sneaker world, it’s somewhat ironic that a casually oriented running hybrid would foreshadow a major shift in the flagship line. But that’s exactly what’s happened to noted Jordanhead and Nike SB alum Paul Rodriguez, whose sixth Swoosh signature sneaker has switched to LunarLon cushioning following five straight Zoom-cushioned efforts. We can now look back and see the P-Rod V Lunar Hyperstrike as foreshadowing the shift, so maybe we can take this new Nike Paul Rodriguez 6 Lunar Rod as a sign that a seventh is forthcoming. The second such design crystallizes the LunarRod line as a P-Rod silhouette redone with a pronounced LunarLon platform, and this pair mixing Crystal Mint suede with white accents has serious style to boot. Nike Skateboarding’s longest running signature model belongs to Paul Rodriguez, who just took Gold in the Skateboard Street category during this weekend’s X Games. P-Rod’s been able to forge a successful career much in part due to his pro-model with Nike, and from the previous five models, the VI continues to carry the latest innovations in athletic footwear tailored to P-Rod’s game. Featuring LunarLon cushioning, an extremely durable suede with TPU backing, and Diamond Flex grooves on the outsole for enhanced traction and flexibility, the P-Rod VI doesn’t miss a beat as P-Rod continues to be one of the top players of his sport. You can find the Paul Rodriguez VI at Nike skateshops now, so check out the extra angles below!

Paul Rodriguez’ signature line was the most successful in Nike SB’s first decade, a series of sneakers and gear so pouplar they couldn’t be contained by ‘select’ skate shops. P-Rods started popping up at a variety of retailers, most notably mall-based chain stores a couple of years back, and in retrospect, this shift foreshadowed a move we’re seeing made permanent with Paul’s newest kicks. Dropping the ‘SB’ from the Nike P-Rod 6 is kind of like Doogie Howser getting his own apartment: the prodigy has been established as force with which to be reckoned, and now he’s out in the world on his own. Click through to see the surgical precision with which the Nike Paul Rodriguez VI was built, let us know whether the Anthracite or black pair is more exciting and grab yours today from NikeStore.
