In a classic 1 vs. 100 match-up taken from some of the most historic battle scenes in film history, the current generation of football superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Wesley Sneijder, and Franck Ribéry take on the new wave of phenoms like Neymar, Yann M’Vila, and Mario Götze (with thousands of other youngsters on their side) in an epic frenzy for supremacy. Who comes out on top? While there is no conclusive evidence, there’s no doubt that the present and future of football is good ‘hands’. Nike Cortez 40/40 Showcase

Anyone who’s ever dusted their shoulders off knows that ESPN’s on the screen at the 40/40 Club, but on the other side of the world, you can expect to see classic runners on display. No, Jay-Z didn’t switch themes for a new nightclub in Asia. Rather, it’s Nike Sportswear who comes through with the ‘Cortez 40/40′ campaign, a massive Nike Cortez 40th anniversary celebration including eight artists each from five different SE Asian nations. The Thai editions included designs from indie record label Smallroom, streetwear magazine Cheeze Looker, fashion label Painkiller, jewelry-makers Missile, clothing designers Him & Her, party promoter CMYK, illustrator Pomme Chan and photographer Chardchakaj Waikawee of ‘Around Me’ YouTube fame. Nike Free ‘The Super Natural Ride’

Hot on the heels of Tom Sachs’ space-themed collaboration and the accompanying 1948 London installation comes another inventive display from Nike, this time in Tokyo’s O-Yane Plaza. That’s where you’ll find ‘The Super Natural Ride’, an exhibition celebrating the ‘barefoot plus’ capabilities bestowed upon those who rock Nike Free from point A to point B. The visuals range from grass sculpted lettering to eye-popping multimedia displays, and you can get a sense for what it’d be like to visit in more details after the jump. Tom Sachs x Nike Craft: Space Camp

“Space Camp is an athletic, dietary and psychological conditioning program, designed to prepare our crew for the rigors of the Mars mission.”

Have you ever sat down and thoroughly considered the implications of deep space travel? Most of us have only scratched the surface of those philosophical and aeronautical concerns, but a group of young British creatives is going much further each morning as they arrive at Space Camp two hours before beginning their normal work days. So while Nat Geo might have you believing that this time could be better spent preparing for the apocalypse, these folks led by high-concept sculptor Tom Sachs are spending extra time every day prepping their bodies with Pat Manocchia’s exercises to handle the nearly 55lbs that’s added when one dons an extravehicular space suit. This video and the 1948 London installation it’s teasing isn’t your typical sneaker collaboration to be sure, but another certainty is that the interest in Air Jordan NASA PEs just went up by orders of magnitude. Given the popularity of the space-inspired ‘Galaxy’ designs a short while back, what reaction would you predict for something like a NASA x Air Jordan XI ’100 Foot Dunk’? The Air Max 95 is about to turn eighteen next year but we’ve been treated to a couple revisions in 2012, one of which is currently setting Japan ablaze. The Nike Air Max+ 95 BB is off to a strong start thanks to collaborations with two of Tokyo’s top sneaker boutiques, one of whom even went so far as to create a special display for all of Nike Sportswear’s Air Max classics in honor of their BBs. atmos‘ new Air Max+ 95 BB headlines a group that includes the ‘What the Max’ Fuse set in addition to new 95 No-Sews and AM90 Hyperfuses. One of the more intriguing elements therein compares the modern full-length Max Air cushion that debuted in 2009 to the original encapsulated airbag hidden away on pre-Visible Air drops like the Tailwind. It’s crazy to see how far Nike has come in two decades in just those two frames, then zoom out and see even more of this incredible journey on display (and you can even buy them!). Nike Free – Building Twist

While groups of American college students no doubt ‘saw’ something similar on the day Wieden + Kennedy Tokyo shot this new video for Nike, the appearance of a moving wall in this latest spot is considerably more ‘real’. Synchronized to the bends of a Nike Free runner, this ‘Nike Building Twist’ spot sees Yokohama’s Red Brick Warehouse take on the modulations of the barefoot-mimicking sole whose series has strengthened feet around the world for nearly a decade. Reebok Builds Custom Shoes for Nation’s Tallest Man

“Physically, just how big they are is a huge challenge.”

Reebok struck gold in 1992 when they signed an LSU junior center to a shoe deal just as he was readying to become basketball’s biggest personality since Michael Jordan. Shaquille O’Neal hadn’t yet racked up any of his Hall of Fame credentials, but he was still an unmatched specticle thanks to size 22 shoes that made a bigger splash in the mainstream media than Kazaam. Now two decades later, RBK prepares to outfit an even larger man, in fact, the tallest person in all of America.

Igor Vovkovinskiy got up with Reebok researchers yesterday to see what he could do about soothing his massive size-26 feet, a lack of support for which remains the main cause for a slew of recent surgeries on the 7’8″ Kiev product. Igor’s insurance company weren’t sympathetic to the challenges of such a humongous tarsal structure, so Reebok stepped in to create a personalized last at a total cost of somewhere around $25,000. And even though Igor won’t be winning any scoring titles, MVPs or championship rings any time soon, might the good will from large-footed customers who hear about this story make this a worthwhile investment?
