Marcus Troy x Puma Suede Giveaway

It’s been almost a year since Montreal-based fashion blogger Marcus Troy graced the pages of Sneaker News with his ‘Maverick Project’ Air Force 1 Bespokes, and this time, he’s working with a different brand on an equally classic silhouette.  And instead of an $820 pricetag, the Marcus Troy x Puma Suede collab is a 150-pair giveaway celebrating one of the truly iconic styles in modern athletic footwear (and one that predated the AF1 by a good four years).  The signup page scoops us on the way this promo is scheduled to go down over the next few weeks as crowdsourced Suede pictures are curated to demonstrate widespread appeal of this all-timer.  Will you sign up for a chance at a free pair of Puma Suedes courtesy of Marcus Troy?  Let us know when you click through for more and stick with Sneaker News for the latest sneaker collaborations.

Rick Ross for Reebok

“I’m the biggest boss in the business: Ricky Rozay, aka Rick Ross.”

There aren’t too many rappers on this planet that can rival the empire built by Miami’s William Roberts, and just like the Bawse’s epic single “Hustlin’” says, he’s been working to expand his reach every single day. Ross’ MMG label has the sneaker game on lock with notable sn’eads Wale and Stalley consistently running ahead of the pack, and now Rick’s own partnership with RBK continues to expand their influence. In three videos you’ll see in full after the jump, Rick Ross discusses the concept of ‘classic’ in relation to his life as well as his partnership with RBK, so check them out and let us know what you’d like to see from a Swizz Beatz x Rick Ross teamup.

Action Bronson x PRO Keds When the Shoe Drops Video

Hip-hop fans who gravitate toward lyrical skill know prolific Queens emcee Action Bronson is a talent so impressive there’s ‘Not Enough Words’ to express his gift, and we can establish a few new facts about the world’s greatest Albanian-American rapper thanks to this new ‘When the Shoe Drops’ video from PRO-Keds.  The scene starts with Bronson at an NY playground and evolves into a modern day Cinderella story when a young lady finds one of his fresh new PRO-Keds Royal His from the ‘Throwback Collection’ and heads out to find its rightful owner.  The ending isn’t anything like you’d expect from the vast history of rappers acting in independent films, a fitting reflection of the state of both sneakers and hip-hop music in 2012 (not to mention more proof of AB’s love for old school sneakers).  Click through to see the video in full then let us know what you think of Bronson’s playful role and if the Royal is a part of your regular rotation.

Grant Taylor x Nike SB Team Edition Skater of the Year

Eric Koston, Tony TrujilloSilas Baxter-Neal; these are just three of the twenty-two men who’ve been crowned Thrasher Skater of the Year.  It’s an award that since 1990 has fairly accurately expressed the general consensus of who killed it the most that year, the most recent winner a Nike SB rider by the name of Grant Taylor.  Serious skaters and fans of his rasta-fied 2009 Blazer SB Elite already know exactly who he is, but nobody will forget his name once you’ve seen the deluxe package put together for his ‘Skater of the Year’ Nike SB Team Edition.  The shoe itself is quite similar to the ‘SB Chronicles’ edition, but a laser-etched wooden box and ‘SOTY 11′ branding sets these apart as a friends & family exclusive.  Let us know if you’d try to grab these at a premium from the secondary market and stick with Sneaker News for all the upcoming Nike SB release dates.  via HS

Nike Free Run+ 3 I Would Run to You Video

The 2007 release of the Academy Award winning romantic comedy Juno preceded the massive move toward collaborative design that’s pervaded the sneaker industry over these past few years, though it’s subject matter would have meant that only the most independently-minded companies would have gotten behind it.  Then again, we see shades of Ellen Page’s signature role all over this new ‘I Would Run to You’ spot from Nike Running, a video depicting a male/female call-and-response pattern involving a distance run and, you guessed it, a sappy love song.  About halfway through, the plot takes an interesting twist and yet the music just keeps on going and those Nike Free Run+ 3s never miss a step; how do you motivate yourself for those gruelling runs?  Let us know when you click through to see the video in full, and if there’s a special sneakerhead out there for whom you’d run coast to coast.

adidas ClimaCool Seduction

NBA fans and regular Sneaker News readers know that Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose has been out for a few games, but the league’s reigning MVP still found time to hook up with some other notable adidas endorsees for a training run.  The word ‘time’ is the operative one for this latest Three Stripes video, as D-Rose, David Beckham, Lionel Messi and Katy Perry all go out for a run at 18:14 UTC, which also happens to be the time that Jeremy Scott is out for a bike ride.  This ‘WE ALL RUN’ video features the brand new adidas ClimaCool Seduction runner, a supremely ventilated release with 360-degree ventilation to greatly reduce the energy overhead required to keep your body cool.  This advance should result in more comfortable runs that go further and faster, and you can see them in action in the video after the jump before buying directly from adidas.

Eric Koston x Nike SB Mr. Control It All Video

Why exactly is Eric Koston driving a big white van full of young skaters to a mysterious looking building out in the desert?!  From the looks of the place on the inside as well as the ‘NSRL’ labeling you see on Koston’s computer console, it seems like we’re on the inside of the Nike Sport Research Lab, even though the outside shot looks nothing like the picturesque Mia Hamm building.  Inside the testing facility is what really matters, where ‘Mr. Control It All’ instructs new SB Rider (and recent Tampa Pro third-place winner) Sean Malto to shred in a pair of the new red/white SB Koston 1′s and warns Justin Brock to get ready because he’s next.  We get to see the Nike Eric Koston excel under high-tech testing conditions that measure the kind of variables that’ll make its sequel even better.  And speaking of building on Koston’s work, Eric will be tweeting missions over the next short while for skaters to complete and submit to @NikeSB with hashtag #MrControlItAll for a chance to win one fo eight special Koston prize packs starting on March 30th.  Click through to see your jumping-off point and stick with Sneaker News for updates.

New Balance Excellent Makers Maine Factory

“Every cut has to be precise . . . attention to detail is critical.”

New Balance doesn’t just stand out because of the special English folks who man their factory in Flimby, UK. They’re also one of the few remaining brands who maintain their US-based manufacturing, resulting in a revolutionary Atlantic-crossing supply chain that traces one of its roots to Norridgewock, Maine. That’s where guys like Austin Green assemble standouts like last year’s superb New Balance 1300 ‘Made in USA’ for fans of classic running styles who can’t get enough of the signature NB suede and mesh. Click through to see a bit of what it takes to make runners that retain their appeal for decades and stick with Sneaker News for more inside looks at the industry.
