Puma was about a year ahead of schedule with the Year of the Snake trend and has continued to release new styles with some regularity in the interim. Today we see three familiar models take on colorways that would have just as well-placed in early 2012, as the Puma First Round, Slipstream and Basket go for elegant black and/or white makeups featuring various scale placements. Stick with Sneaker News for release info on this Made in Japan Python collection, and check out more below in the meantime.

What do you get when you mix a pigeon and a puma? The answer is this, the Staple x Puma Clyde pair that’s apparently on the way for Spring/Summer 2013. From what we can see via this quick sneak peek photo, the sneaker is very much a resurrection of Jeff Staple’s classic, riot-inducing Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Pigeon’. The grey and red color combo is in place and the heel on the back end even looks to have that feathered icon embroidered in the proper place. Get the full preview of the Staple x Puma Clyde right after the jump and tell us if you’re excited for this upcoming collab in the comments below.

Mihara Yasuhiro has introduced some of the most unique Puma collaborations over the past five years. His latest work combines a classic running silhouette with a dazzling array of diagonal stripes that suggest historians will look back on the Reebok ZigMaze as an influential design. The Puma by Mihara MY-71 goes for more of a herringbone approach than those eye-catching RBKs, but the rubberized overlay is equally adept at adding depth and breaking necks. Check out three colorways in more photos below and stick with Sneaker News for release info.

The Puma Stepper is on the upswing over the past few months, having released a handful of luxurious premium leather designs. The latest make you wonder if basketballs always have to be brown, a couple of Stepper Classic Luxe Camo colorways whose name refers to the sockliner graphic, and belies the use of a pebbled texture on the upper. One’s done in black, the other a brown shade closer to a pigskin, and you can get yours before the Super Bowl now that they’re in stock at retailers like SNS.

Some of Hussein Chalayan’s work with Puma has been as bold as his most daring runway pieces. On the other end of the spectrum, the respected designer has authored some more traditional ultra-premium models, of which the Haast lowtop is a prime example. With lines derived from golden era runners and plenty of suede to match, the Haast was a solid contribution whose pricetag and low-key approach had most sneakerheads sleeping. But add in the popular Disc laceless enclosure that’s been LTWT’d and Fieg’d over the last year, and you’ve got a recipe for the Hussein Chalayan x Puma Haast Disc to make more of a splash this spring/summer. Click through for a look at the first three colorways, let us know how these compare to the iconic Disc Blaze and stick with Sneaker News for word on US availability.

Puma has issued several notable strap-dependent designs over the past three or so years; could the latest be the craziest of them all? The Puma Ely Future is certainly not your average sneaker, its laceless design opting for a dual strap system that features one fairly standard velcro enclosure at the ankle, and another very unique asterisk-shaped shroud dominating the tongue area. Both of these colorways are impactful while still relatively simple, a choice that really draws your eye to the signature features, which you can see in greater detail after the jump below.
