When the Nike Flynit series first made its way to retailers, there were a good amount of stray pairs that saw a super limited releases. The Nike Flyknit Racer “USA” was one of those, with Nike Sportswear’s 21 Mercer spot in NYC being the only stateside spot to get any in stock. Pictured here is an even rarer find, an alternate sample version of the Nike Flyknit Racer. The big difference on these comes in the form in the extra bit of volt used, which shows up on the top half of the sole up near the toe. The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG in black/royal was definitely one of the more celebrated retros of 2013 so far. Shown here is an alternate black and royal look that strays pretty far from that OG look. On top of those key colors, there’s also a little bit of yellow and orange that throws things off quite a bit. Remember that purple, black, and orange Air Jordan 1 sample that we showed you earlier on today? It looks like Jordan Brand had a couple different versions of said sneaker produced. Shown here is one that closely matches-only this time the orange sections are gone in favor of a lily white treatment for the innards. Which looking do you find more appealing? Air Jordan III – Clear Sole Sample

Yet another crazy sample to come out from Flipjays’ table at Sneaker Con is this uber-rare sample of the Air Jordan III. Looks like the basic White/Cement colorway, correct? True, but check out the outsole because these are the infamous “Clear Sole” sample that never was produced. Of course, the clear icy sole isn’t a myth in the Air Jordan III storyline thanks to the Air Jordan III Doernbecher, but this unreleased sample of the White/Cement III which dates back to the early 2000s is definitely one of the crazier samples that have never been produced. Air Jordan 1 – Purple – Black – Orange | Unreleased Sample

Would you want to see zebra on an Air Jordan retro? The most notable and perhaps only time that happened was a custom job that showed up at last year’s Sneaker Free Market event. The Air Jordan 1 we’re examining here was apparently intended for mass production, but for whatever reason, the release was nixed and only this sample pair remains. They were cast in one of the highest contrast colorways possible, blending purple, black and orange and even going two-tone on the laces. The signature element on this Jordan 1 Mid was the tonal stripes on the entire leather upper; not quite zebra, but every bit as bold and eye-catching. atmos x Nike Air Max 1 “Elephant Print” – 2011 Promo Sample

The 2007 release of the atmos x Nike Air Max 1 is currently one of the more sought-after Air Max 1s in history, leaping off the insanely popular “Safari” and “Viotech” versions that the Japanese retailer crafted years prior. What makes this sample a interesting find is that the label on the tongue notes these as a promo sample made for the Summer 2011 season – four years after the initial release. A quick examination of this sample version doesn’t reveal any discrepancies from the released version, so the question remains: Why was this recreated in 2011? Was a wider retail release in the works, or did Nike make these for a VIP who happens to wear a size 13? Nike Sportswear has done an admirable job at transforming the most performance-driven models into lifestyle footwear options, using pristine materials and tooling options we usually associate with street footwear. The Nike Free Trainer 5.0 is the latest to get the NSW treatment as we get a look at this Fall 2013 sample of the Nike NSW Free Trainer 5.0; it features a tonal Game Royal upper built with suede materials and also utilizes a leather inner lining for that lux appeal. The upper is where the NSW Free Trainer 5.0 gains an identity with the stitching, reverse Swoosh, and enlarged Nike Air embroidery on the tongue giving this potential future release some interesting notes.
