Nike SB Renewal Collection

nike sb renewal collection 03 Nike SB Renewal Collection

Why slide a bunch of Air Max bubbles onto the bottom of skate sneakers? Apparently the idea for this Nike SB creation is to create a range of shoes intended for post-skate wear. The models selected include the Nike SB P-Rod 7 Hyperfuse Max, which benefits from an AM1 window on bottom, the Nike Stefan Janoski Max, and the Nike Eric Koston 2 Max. Stay with us after the break to see the full Nike SB Renewal collection and stay tuned to Sneaker News to find out when this blacked out group will be here in the States (Brazil is apparently getting a crack at them on February 26th).

Taka Hayashi x Vans Vault Spring 2014 Collection

February 25th, 2014 by | 2 comments

taka hayashi vans vault spring 2014 01 570x399 Taka Hayashi x Vans Vault Spring 2014 Collection

There’s no reason to think the partnership between Japanese born designer Taka Hayashi and California’s Off the Wall skate shoe brand Vans would end any time soon.  These two have successfully partnered on Vans Vault sneakers with each season for so long now, he’s moving into that rarefied category with Hiroshi Fujiwara, John Varvatos, Jeremy Scott and Yohji Yamamoto who’ve been at it with a single brand for upwards of a decade or more.  All of these guys are famous for their own takes on established favorites, and Taka exhibits just that appeal with the new slightly cap-toed Vans Vault Sk8-Mid, another set of remixes on the Sk8 with his Court Hi and Lo, and the totally TH-original Derby 2 gets covered in the vintage palm leaf print.  This spring collection should be at select Vans Vault retailers shortly; which pair do you like best?

Vans Half Cab “Multi Floral”

February 22nd, 2014 by | 2 comments

vans half cab multi floral 01 570x425 Vans Half Cab Multi Floral

Vans has issued a significant number of floral print sneakers over the past few years.  The vast majority of these have been lowtops, whether it’s the Authentic/Era plimsoll shape, Slip-On or some other model.  There have also been a few hightop examples, most notably the Sk8-Hi with its sizeable side panels.  But midtops have been few and far between, so we might actually be looking at the very first floral Vans Half Cab.  If so, they came in strong with a multicolor print backing a black suede upper, the kind of high-contrast style that makes them call out to you from shelves at shops like Titolo.

adidas sb lucas puig blue electric 01 570x380 adidas Skate Lucas Pro Blue Electricity

Last we saw from French skateboarding star Lucas Puig’s adidas pro model, he was offering a taste of what was to come in 2014′s Stan Smith revival.  This latest adidas Skateboarding Lucas Pro skips the tennis tie-in and moves from the land of ‘Image is Everything’ into the ‘Obey Your Thirst’ territory with a Sprite-ish mix of blue and neon green that always seems to satisfy come springtime.  Click in to see how the mostly tonal upper and carefully placed vibrant pops make this one of the most attractive Lucas Pros yet, then cop yours at shops like Politics.

Vans Sk8-Hi Pro “Checkers”

February 22nd, 2014 by | 1 comment

vans sk8 hi pro checkers 01 570x425 Vans Sk8 Hi Pro Checkers

The name given to this latest Vans Sk8-Hi Pro release is ‘checkers’; do you see why?  It’s easy to venture a guess if you’re familiar with the iconic Vans checkerboard print, but that style isn’t immediately apparent on this new black and Dull Yellow Sk8-Hi.  You have to look closely, and then you’ll see a subtle check pattern on the sockliner, not entirely different from the Air Jordan X retros that are releasing this spring.  Click in to take a closer view, then cop yours at Off the Wall retailers like Concepts.

adidas Stan Smith Skateboarding “Amazon Green”

adidas stan smith sb amazon green 01 570x400 adidas Stan Smith Skateboarding Amazon Green

As we ‘learned’ yesterday, Stan Smith not only won two tennis Grand Slams, he was an influential skater as well.  Ok, so that piece of anachronistic mythology shouldn’t be taken as fact, but the kind of flipping that went on with this new adidas Stan Smith Skateboarding is totally legit.  From leather to suede and from white with a touch of green to the opposite, this new ‘Amazon Green’ Stan Smith Skate is finished with ticked laces, depicted in more photos after the jump below, and available right now from shops like Flatspot.

Nike SB Zoom Bruin Premium SE – Black – Base Grey

February 22nd, 2014 by | No comments

nike sb zoom bruin prm se black base grey 01 570x400 Nike SB Zoom Bruin Premium SE Black Base Grey

Nike SB’s new Premium SE releases take a slightly more technical approach to creating established models. They’re all based on the same concept behind the Lunar One Shot, which uses modern data and fabrication processes to make the most of traditional skate designs. In the case of the Nike SB Zoom Bruin, it’s the original lowtop Nike basketball shoe made skate-friendly, then even more so by way of the abrasion resistant ‘mudguard’ coating, the form-fitting notched tongue and the subtle removal of the Bruin’s traditional T-toe. All of these slight adjustments combine into a sleeker version of a familiar silo, so check out this black and grey pair in more detail below, then cop yours at shops like Premier.
