In his first Nike Retro at-bat, ‘The Kid’ touched ‘em all with a Nike Air Griffey Max that drew rave reviews and made it on the Sneaker News Top 30 Sneakers of 2009. A year later, Ken Griffey Jr. will take another swing with the retro of the Nike Air Griffey Max GD II in a black/red colorway. Griffey and his original Swingman logo don the tongue-tag and heel of the black leather-uppered baseball shoe that’ll probably hit the streets more than the first-base line. The Nike Air Griffey Max GD II will step out of the batter’s box and hit Foot Locker and other Nike retailers in April 2010. via FLUL.

This has been a banner year for the Nike Trainer SC family. From the Flywire-and-Free’d Trainer SC 2010 to the new Auto Trainer and all the Trainer SC retros, Bo Jackson’s big shoe has been everywhere this year. Introducing the latest member of the group, the new Nike WMNS Air Trainer ESC High. There’s some quintessentially-SC styling here, but the colorways pictured above are perfect for all the sneakerhead ladies out there. WMNS Reebok Freestyle ‘Divinity Greek’ Pack – Fall/Winter 2010

As of late, women have been getting some really strong concepts and colorways as far as sneaker releases. Here we see Reebok trying to up the ante with an entire collection concept specifically for the ladies. Using Greek mythology as a foundation, a pack of three Reebok Freestyles taken on some famous Greek Goddesses for design foundations. First off is Medusa; one of the more recognized persons from Greek Myths. The upper takes on a stoney look, to represent the outcome of looking into her eyes. The heel ankle collars get a snakeskin treatment, which perfectly suit Medusa’s snake hair because of the shape of the padding.

Secondly you’ll see a pair of Freestyles that draw inspiration from Callisto. Turned into a bear because of a love triangle, she later killed and reborn as the constellation Ursa Major, better known as The Big Dipper. Hence the pitch black leather upper with constellation patterns.

And lastly, Athena, the daughter of Zeus. Mostly synonymous with her shield and helmet, its fitting to see the colorway use a bronzy armor look, with an actual shield graphic on the heel. Athena’s trusty owl gets some shine with feather graphics along almost the entire forefoot of the shoe. These won’t be out for a while as they are part of Reebok’s Fall/Winter collection. via Provider.

Reebok ‘Jean-Michel Basquiat’ Pack – Spring/Summer 2010 Lookbook

Going with an ongoing capsule for a number of seasons now, Reebok is to release a pack inspired by the contemporary art of Jean-Michel Basquiat. Somehow we ended u seeing the Fall/Winter Basquiat stuff before the upcoming season, but now we get to see the full Spring/Summer lookbook. The S/S’ aesthetics are specifically taken from Basquiat’s 1981 Untitled piece, also known as Suite of Fourteen Drawings. The pack will consist of an Omni Pump Lite and BB4600 Hi, as well as an Pump Aerobic Mid Lite Trainer Mid for women. In fact, you may have already caught a glimpse of the Omni Pumps, as we gave a quick glimpse last Summer. The pack will coincide with tshirts that also fit the design of the sneakers. Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Joshua Clottey is slated for about 45,000 on hand in Cowboys Stadium. That’s a huge number for a boxing match, a direct contrast to the availability of the Nike Trainer SC 2010 Manny Pacquiao PE. The Pacquiao PE SC 2010 was gone from NikeStore in the blink of an eye, and Texas wasn’t the best place to be to scoop up one of the few pairs that dropped yesterday at 21 Mercer in NYC. Celebrity Feet: Leonardo DiCaprio – Nike Trainer 1

Leonardo DiCaprio arrived in Japan at Narita International Airport wearing a UCLA baseball cap, a pair of aviator sunglasses, and a pair of Nike Trainer 1’s in a GR (general release) colorway that are available now at various Nike retailers in the US. Leo was seen walking around the airport inconspicuous as can be while holding a digital camera in his hand and nothing else. The 35-year-old actor is believed to be in Japan while promoting his new movie Shutter Island - directed by Martin Scorsese – in which DiCaprio plays a US Marshall.

Nike Auto Trainer – Fall 2010 Preview

Nike’s recent vulcanized-sole escapades have caused quite a stir among sneakerheads; some enjoy the casual look the v-sole brings but purists have lamented hybridization and yearn for truer retros. Lately, the vulcanized sole has remained the dominant allele; the latest original model (or some might say ‘victim’) is the Nike Trainer SC II 3/4. The upper features the Trainer SC II design, from the perforated upper to the dual-layer ankle spport. Gone is the multi-grooved outsole and visible Air Unit and trademark Trainer in-step strap. In fact, the two features that made the Trainer a classic – the strap and fierce midsole design – have been removed in favor of the laid-back, low-tech look. This Holiday 2010 release has been stamped with an $85 price-tag. Will it see a similar fate as the Nike Auto Force 180 which plummeted to $19.99 at Nike Outlets? Time will tell. Nike Trainer 1 Mid – Yu Darvish PE

Joining the recent slew of Nike Trainer 1 PEs, Nike has fashioned a colourway for Yu Darvish, the Japanese pitching phenom who will be subject to a massive bidding war by Major League Baseball teams. The colourway you see is set to match the jerseys of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, Yu’s team in the Pacific League of the NPB, with the left and right shoe owning a different mock-up of the colors. A stamp on the heels reads “Fans are family!”, as Darvish once stated in a post-game interview that he was “pitching for his family, fans, and teammates”. His jersey number ‘11′ is also placed in tag behind the tongue and embossed on the toe of the shoes. No info regarding a release has been set, but we wouldn’t be surprised if this pair was a Friends-and-Family deal. via SCF.
