XLARGE x Reebok Pump Omni Lite – December ‘09

Reebok just unleashed a torrential downpour of 20th Anniversary Pump collaborations. This teamup with Japan’s XLARGE, then, is sorta like the drip-dropping of gutters after the storm subsides: a simple pleasure in which a keen observer can find immense beauty. The XLARGE x Reebok Pump Omni Lite is simpler than most of the Pump20s, utilizing mostly black, grey and white. It’s this simple base that helps you focus on the dope gradient eyelet wing, whose middle-grey hits pick up some of the same blue light reflected by turquiose and royal blue branding on the rear quarter. Expect them at the best Japanese boutiques come December 4th.

Nike Air Max LeBron VII – Black – White – Gold

We’re still mildly befuddled by the ‘Phantom’ Nike Air Max LeBron VII (7) and its shifting back and forth between metallic accent colours. Don’t confuse this as another version of that shoe, though, as this AML7 is going for a look all its own. Whereas the others were pretty much blacked out, save the metallic parts, these have a healthy dose of white on the mudguard, midsole and Swoosh. Perhaps the nicest feature on this pair is the dual-coloured Flywire strands. The black ones blend in, leaving the gold joints to pop as pinstripes. Star Wars mania helped to pave the way for modern sneakerhead culture. We don’t mean to forget about baseball cards or other types of action figures, it’s just that hardcore Star Wars fans are so passionate about keeping their stuff ‘deadstock’ that there’s an obvious carryover (The Cool Kids, anyone?). Now that Jeff Staple has just turned in his second Star Trek-inspired Pack of Airwalks (please, for the love of the Force, do not confuse the two!), we’re finally getting our first glimpse at adidas’ upcoming Star Wars collection. Nike Air Force 1 Low Premium – Snowflakes- Sport Red – Light Bone

It’s always good to see creations conceptualized around a current season or its surroundings- like a mastered chef always changing his menu to adapt to tastes are in season. But when it comes this theory when applied to shoe design, there’s always the risk that the end-result may look a little campy. Nike drops these AF1’s to indicate the flurry of this upcoming winter. Looking like a pair Santa would rock in a Coca-Cola commercial, the vibrant red dominating the shoe is broken up by a white midsole, lining and laces. Also red the insole features an all-over pattern of tiny white circles, like a gentle snow fall, which can also be found on the tongue. The snowflake motif is extended onto the laces, where snowflakes are embossed into the metal aglets. Ho-ho-ho, a gift from Dunk.com.cn

adidas Originals – Star Wars Collection – Spring/Summer 2010 Preview

adidas Originals can always be counted on for some interesting releases, but the inspiration for their latest collaboration reaches all the way out into a galaxy far, far away. This coming January, adidas will be introducing their new Originals Star Wars collection, featuring some iconic characters and imagery from the classic films. Several traditional adidas models will be transformed to take on some characteristics from the likes of Darth Vaider, Luke Skywalker, Yoda and the Storm Troopers. There will also be some pretty imaginative Star Wars apparel to go along with the kicks, as well as some more sneaker models. Nike KD2 – Kevin Durant – Spring 2010 Preview

You might not realize this because of the small-market team that he plays for, but Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the NBA. In addition to his rising star status in the League, Durant is also bordering on the upper echelon of the Nike Basketball realm as well. After LeBron James and Kobe Bryant, KD is pretty much the next in line as far as the Swoosh’s b-ball line goes. The KD1 was moderately well-received, and now the KD2 is on the horizon with the hopes of making more of a splash for both Durant and Nike in the eyes of the sneakerhead community. We have already seen some looks at the shoe, including the crazy red patent Velvet Hoop edition that KD was spotted in a few months back. Now, we get a peek at three upcoming colorways of the shoe, each with some personality of their own.
