Once a staple in the Nike Sportswear release calendar, the Nike Vandal High has been AWOL of late. We’ve only seen a single mens release in the last nine months, but at least this one proves that its classic design can keep up with the times. But really, the simple red-on-white getup is something of a throwback itself, so perhaps we should see more Vandals now that the relatively simple styles with which it debuted decades ago has become one of the contemporary defaults. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait almost another year to see another pair this good, and luckily there’s no need to wait with this pair; they’re available now at FinishLine.

You can’t get more old school than canvas uppers and ankle straps, and there isn’t a better shoe that better utilizes those materials than the Nike Vandal High. The Vandal originated twenty-seven years ago and is now a classic Sportswear silhouette thanks to simple colorways and memorable artist collabs (Geoff McFetridge’s ‘Tearaway’ and Tom Luedecke’s ‘Nature’ being two succinct examples). This new release of the Vandal features classic color-blocking of black and varsity royal with a striped ankle-strap and a pure-white midsole. Check out this detailed gallery of this new Vandal High drop and head over to Size? in the UK to pick up a pair.

Like any skilled backpacker, the Nike Vandal High has been missing most of the times we’ve looked in 2010. There have been a few drops here and there, but nothing to match the days when Blazers, Dunks and Vandals were at the core of the Nike Sport Culture strategy. So here’s a blast from the past with a new WMNS Vandal High, a pair that maximizes the ’70s basketball aesthetic with a super clean three-toned colorway. An all-white base finds select orange hits on the strap and sole, with the heel tab adding just a touch of gold. Check out more shots by clicking the jump below and look for these at select Nike Sportswear retailers like Dr. Jays.

When you combine nylon with the Nike Vandal, you’d probably expect something with a vintage flavor – but with these new Quickstrikes, you can’t help but feel a modern vibe. Here’s a look at a black and metallic summit white colorway of the Nike Vandal High Supreme with a nylon upper and a tonal white midsole; these give off the euro-styled street-boot look thanks to the simple colorway and should better mesh with clothing of a similar style. The strap itself is very simple – canvas with frayed edges and no branding. Take a look at the extra images after the jump; these should hit select Nike Sportswear accounts soon as they’ve already arrived at Special.

The Nike Vandal High has offered some of the craziest colorways of any sneaker over the years, but this one proves that the Vandal can dress up with the best of em. White leather with white piping is right in step with this year’s push toward monochromatic looks, and you get select black hits to keep up with Nike Sportswear’s other two-toned selections. These black-on-white Vandal Highs are pretty much the exact inversion of a black/white pair that released on the first day of this month, giving you another option for a super-clean back to school look. Check out a bunch of other angles in shots after the jump and grab a pair of these white leather Vandals from Size?

Something about canvas works wonders on the Nike Vandal, doesn’t it? Check out this new colorway of the Nike Vandal High in a black tough canvas upper with patent leather on the swoosh as well as the seams. Canvas is a gritty, earthy material white patent leather tends to be flashier, so this mix is quite a neat exhibition of differing materials. With a white/black/white striped ankle strap, a double-layered swoosh with white acting as the bottom layer, and an all-white midsole. Black and white, canvas and patent leather, this new Vandal High is all about contrast. Head to JDSports and let us know what you think of this new colorway.

There’s been a relative dearth of Nike Vandal Highs over the past year-plus (especially compared to earlier this century), and this new model is sure to leave at least some of the classic model’s fans frustrated. That’s cos a WMNS size run leaves the larger feet out in the cold, but for everyone else, this black and white design with Team Orange and soft blue hits is quite impressive. And Nike Sportswear didn’t stop at the dope colorway, either, offering an interesting two-toned textile on the underlay, the hindfoot sections of which are quilted for a nice variance in texture. Check out more shots after the jump and grab a pair from Sweedish retailer Shelta.
