We’ve seen how Vans loves to pay homage to artists who have paid their dues. Vans has already established a collection for comic book pioneer, R. Crumb, and now Vans adds another installment to the collection. This time designed around a Chukka, the crisp white upper (supposedly nubuck) is garnished with black stitching and stripe on the foxing. With graphics solely found on the back of the heel, the choice of illustration best depicts R. Crumb’s history of social satire and scrutiny of American life. Lavished with a cream-colored lining just waiting to be broken in, along with a choice of black or white laces. Definitely a clean design. via SoleRedemption.

How many of you found your way to seeing Fritz the Cat or the biopic Crumb after the artist’s Vans series released? Off the Wall continues to highlight some of the greats of modern American art, this time with more inspired by the pen of Robert Crumb. With this Vans Vault Authentic One Piece LX, they’re going straight at the (irony?) bone, using the KOT character that a judge ruled in 1976 Crumb didn’t own. Maybe this is part of the deal to pay the back royalties he was ordered to pay, but in any case is a pointed reminder of how controversial dude’s drawings have been. Vans Vault Pony Pack – Sk8-Hi + Classic Slip-On

There has been a bit of a pony hair craze going on with releases like the Savage Beast Air Force 1’s or DJ Clark Kent’s Black Friday Air force 1’s. This time it’s Vans that brings you a new installment of Pony hair sneakers. Here we give you a look at the Vans Vault Pony Pack Sk8 Hi and Slip-On versions. These sneakers feature a full pony hair upper with what appears to be a cow print that covers the entire shoe. Both the Sk8 Hi’s and Slip-Ons have a full brown rubber midsole and outsole with a light brown stripe that wraps around the whole midsole. These shoes are sure to turn head wherever they are worn. Feal Mor x Vans Syndicate – Chukka Low “S” – A La Vie

Vans Syndicate has produced some pretty dope pairs lately. With weather motivating the design of the the Mountain Edition Mid, these Chukka Low’s are more of a geographic and historical tribute. Designed by Feal Mor, these are inspired by by French military boots. The “Land” pair has an upper made of very rare French marine camo canvas, while the “Sea” pair sports a beautiful french navy, both enzymed washed for a weathered effect. Battle slogans are written on the sides to further correlate the French military theme, added by Syndicate emblems on the back with molded foxing strips along the midsoles. Limited in quantity, these can be copped at Silo for $70 – a great deal for a dope pair to the collection.

Vans Syndicate releases these two new Mountain Edition Mid’s for the holiday season. Function-specific to the max for the winter conditions, the uppers are fitted with ballistic nylon and Wolverine leather. No, not the animal wolverine, but rather Wolverine World Wide- the company that’s been producing high-quality rugged shoes for over two centuries. The pigskin nubuck is actually scotchguarded for water and stain resistance, facilitating cleaning and maintenance. An Outlast liner is put in to ensure a stable foot temperature, while the outside foxing tape is custom-made to ensure durability. As said before- build with function in mind. The Mtn Edition Mid ‘S’ will come in Warrior/Black and Warrior/Khaki. Limited in quantity, these are now available at Vans Syndicate retailers like Silo.

Vans Vault Spring / Summer 2010 – Mt. Edition

Here is a peek of the Mountain Edition from the Vans Vault Spring 2010 collection. These Mountain Editions come are a collaboration with Knoll Textiles, and come in four different colorways all with the classic whit vulcanized sole. The uppers are made of a satin like material, while the side panel tags are made of full grain leather with the Vans symbol embossed into the tag. Via Freshngood

Robert Williams and Vans Vault for DQM Detailed Look

Earlier this week we showed you some true collectors items, the hand painted Robert Williams Vans Vault Era’s. These sneakers have really been customized inside and out. There is actually a video floating around the internet of Mr. Robert Williams painting a roll of canvas for these sneakers and bringing it to China to get the canvas cut and placed on the actual shoes. There are only thirteen pairs of these Vans Vault Era’s that will be released at DQM, which makes them truly unique and extremely limited. via DQM
