Hello Kitty x Vans Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

It’s something you’ll recognize as a fan of Sanrio’s signature character, and though its role as one of the most oft-licensed likenesses in the world of children’s entertainment makes this seem as obvious as  sociology 101, Hello Kitty has still managed to impress with a huge range of sneaker collaborations.  Brands including Asics, Reebok and Ubiq have all applied cartoonish embellishments to their designs in much the same way that this new Hello Kitty x Vans collection for summer.  Models including the Vans Sk8-Hi, Slip-On and Authentic have all ben covered in a variety of prints, and you can see the entire set after the jump before they arrive at select retailers June 1st.  via nitro:licious

Vans Vault Old Skool LX

The last pair of these to come out of Off the Wall’s Vault was Levi Maestro’s rainbow-soled collaboration, so what’s Vans going to do with the next round of premium Old Skool lowtops?  The answer is simple. Now read that last sentence again, and you’ll have a clear understanding of the intent behind this new duo of Vans Vault Old Skool LX releases, two nubuck skate classics featuring white side panel stripes and soles, black waxed laces and foxing bands and a red footbed that only you’ll know about.  These just arrived at top tier Vans stockists, and that of course includes their collaborative retail venture with DQM, The General.

Lupe Fiasco x Vans OTW Teaser

Lupe Fiasco is no stranger to sneaker collaborations, having dropped one of the 1Hund[RED] Chuck Taylors with Converse all the way back in 2008, moving on that same year to work with Greedy Genius before conceiving the mysterious ‘Fall of Rome’ Air Force 1 Lows with Nike Sportswear.  But after that early ’09 revelation, Fiasco focused more on his music until images of his teamup with Vans OTW was revealed at Agenda last August.  Curious, then, to see this collection move backwards in the typical chronology with this tongue tag teaser image, but you can click through to get a good idea of the Off the Wall models in store for this Lupe Fiasco x Vans OTW capsule.

Warm up your soul with a hot pair of Campbell’s Soup, coming at you in the form of a Supreme x Vans collaboration that was first previewed in late March. The three flavors are all time-honored classics, like the Authentic, Half Cab, and Sk8-Hi, all of which feature the tiled print of the Andy Warhol-styled Campbell’s can label. Vans Authentic Watermelon

Just over three years ago, Vans issued three of its classic vulc-soled skate models in watermelon-themed designs for ladies.  And though Off the Wall isn’t really in the business of issuing retros, the watermelon did indeed return last summer along with cheeseburger and sprinkles-inspired pairs.  And while hotdog, lemonade and other summertime flavors sit on the shelves, the ever popular watermelon motif returns on the Vans Authentic.  The iconic skate plimsoll looks just as delicious as we remembered and is available at Vans retailers in Singapore as we speak; would you buy a pair if they hit US store shelves?  via ST

Vans Vault Sk8 Hi LX Notchback

It’s been nearly three years since Jason Jessee unleashed his Vans Syndicate collaboration on the world, and his didn’t hit with the same attention as standout collabos like Supreme’s, that 2009 heel-notched design is indeed having a lasting impact.  An in-house effort this time, the Vans Vault Sk8-Hi LX ‘Notchback’ returns after an early ’12 resurrection, three new suede drops looking like a Quckstrike duo of VNTG Blazer Highs from ’10 if Nike Sportswear’s earlier release’s Blue Grey colorup had been separated into its constituent parts.  Check out this entire trio below and stick with Sneaker News to see when they arrive on store shelves.  via FNG

HKIT x Vans Half Cab Pro The Last Dragon

Even if you aren’t a student of the Chinese zodiac, your sneakerhead curiosity all but ensures you recognize this as the Year of the Dragon.  And although we know that Nike Sportswear has another ‘YOTD’ Air Force 1 Low (at least in a sample form), another brand has just issued a collaboration that claims to be ‘The Last Dragon’  The HKIT x Vans Half Cab Pro comes in a fierce Chicago-style mix of nubuck and glossy lizard scales, a look whose red laces and sockliner come off as the design’s fire-breathing tongue.  These dropped today (actually, last night in HK local time) and though these are unlikely to hit US retailers, we have more images after the jump below.  Additional photo: HB

Standard California x Vans Authentic

Given Vans’ own status as the standard of California cool, it only makes sense that they’d team up with a local brand with a similar outlook on life.  The thing is, though, Standard California is actually a Japanese clothing label, but that in no way impedes them from getting right at the core of the Off the Wall style.  This Standard California x Vans Authentic comes off as an left field homage to a dearly admired style, its old school/Vault-style tag and conspicuously placed checkerboard pattern the equivalent of a perfect distillation of the Vans style that’s been garbled in translation.  There’s no mistaking these for any other brand, and you’ll only be able to find them at Japanese retailers like Intention Line.
