Japanese fashion label Comme des Garcons has more collaborations with Converse and Supreme x Vans coming up, and here’s a new one from Off the Wall sneaking in under the radar. The Comme des Garcons x Vans Era leaves out the red box influence and sticks with a subtle chambray upper, an effortless summer style that’s both trendy and timeless. The Vans Authentic has explored a variety of new patterns lately thanks to collaborative designs from the likes of Kenzo, Bodega and Mike Hill. The latest release follows a more traditional approach both in terms of aesthetics and sourcing, as an in-house plaid design matches up with a classic springtime tartan look. Red, white and blue weave throughout with a brown piping around the collar and tongue, so check them out up close below, then grab your pair straight from Vans.

As you no doubt discovered over the weekend, Comme des Garcons is once again linking up with the almighty Supreme for a collaborative capsule. Said set will once again include a group of Vans-as the Vans Era and the Vans Half Cab will each add two pairs to the group. The pairs will both dress up in the new digi camo/polka dotted look that characterizes the collection. Vans is the global skate leader and does almost everything at a high level, but they might have missed an opportunity to release this collaboration about a year ago. You see, that’s when young Elijah Berle was named 2011 ‘Year’s Best Am’ by The Skateboard Mag, an honor that would have served as a natural springboard into this new Elijah Berle x Vans Sk8-Hi teamup. Berle is noted as saying Jeff Grosso is his favorite skater ever, so it’s fitting that this model and colorway both resemble Grosso’s first Off the Wall pack from two springs ago. Kudos to Vans for not just blindly copying the Harlem Shake meme, but Off the Wall did indeed collect a bunch of people dancing around in crazy costumes for this latest promo video. The Vans 2013 Brand Anthem Parade sees everything from skaters shredding a pool float to dudes dressed up as classic Vans sneakers, not to mention a variety of legendary riders dropping in to make a drizzle-filled day into an ode to action sports. Metallica issued a Kill ‘Em All collaboration as part of the Half Cab 20th Anniversary celebration, then each of the band members got their own signature releases from Vans last month. Five collabos in four months is a nice spread, but seven in five feels more complete when the new drop in question completes the pairs we’ve seen previewed. It’s back to the legendary 1983 album for the Metallica x Vans Sk8-Hi ‘Kill Em All’, a black suede-toed design whose sides are adorned with album art celebrating its 30th birthday. Vans has been the leader in patterned sneakers for a while, but with just about every other brand catching up of late, Off the Wall extends its reach for a new style this spring. The Vans OTW ‘Feather Pack’ brings us three new releases featuring embroidery inspired by a Native American symbol of honor and strength. A word meaning both ‘hello’ and ‘farewell’ in Hawaiian, ‘aloha’ has been used to tag a couple of printed Vans releases this spring. Following up on the ‘Aloha Camo’ prints, Vans Vault issued an ‘Aloha OG’ quartet, and while the latter represents true vintage prints, the former has a bit longer life expectancy thanks to this new drop. The Vans Era 59 ‘Aloha C & L’ has a name referring to its floral print liner and comes in black, True White and Princess Blue canvas colorways.
