Sneaker News Weekly Rewind: 2/11 2/17

Last week’s Air Jordan XI ‘Blackout’ created waves of excitement and envy, but the ‘Pantone’ sample and the sick collection of other Air Jordan XI samples at K-PALS 2012 was almost too much to handle.  The Nike LeBron 9 was a top headline as well due to the Foamposite option on Nike iD, as well as the High-School PEs for Fairfax and SVSM. The Kobe VII ‘Cloak’ was again a popular topic, but a look at the Home Lakers colorway was also worth noting. Nike SB is picking up steam with its impressive March ’12 roll-out, the ‘Black and Tan’ SB Dunk, and the upcoming Levi’s collaboration. The Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’ made headlines for the second week in a row, as Sneaker News provided ‘on-feet’ images of next week’s huge release.

The Nike Air Force 1 continues its XXX exposure with the Pearl Collection, which features the Nike Air Force 1 Lux Max Air and two premium-grade Low-tops. The popular line of Ewing signature sneakers was confirmed for a release for this Summer as we received a nice teaser of the Patrick Ewing hangtags. This week also marked the release of the Reebok 25th Anniversary Workout, selling out quickly at just three select retailers in the States. Wale topped the Celebrity Feet corner with his Galaxy Foams and Air Flight Ones, while NFL All-Pro Adrian Peterson was spotted with Flint XIIIs while seated courtside at an NBA game. In the NBA, Linsanity continued while the Red Metallic Foamposites and Old Royal X become popular picks. Finally, we got a look another set of Air Jordan ‘History of Flight’ samples that went up for sale on eBay. As usual, we have the entire week in Sneaker News below, so check out the Sneaker News Weekly Rewind and get caught up on all the important news in the world of kicks!

February is upon us, and that means the Black History Month Collection by Nike is unveiled. In it is the Nike Basketball signature trio, the Nike Sportswear trio (Air Max 1, Blazer, Air Force 1), and the Huarache Free 2012. This week also shed light on a number of release dates of Air Jordans that are set for a Summer arrival. The Nike LeBron 9 ‘Swingman’ release a bit earlier than expected overseas, while the Kobe VII ‘Iridescent’ raised some eyebrows as well. We finally caught a viewing of the Nike Zoom KD IV ‘All-Star/Galaxy’, and pics of two early prototype samples had some buzz of their own going. NBA/NCAA Feet brought their heat as usual, but it was a recap of the New York Giants and their Air Jordans during Superbowl XLVI Media Day that was the highlight of the week. MJ broke out some Air Jordan 2012 golf shoes while out on the course, and after President Barack Obama made sneaker headlines last week, First Lady Michelle brought out her own kicks during an appearance on The Ellen Show.

After making an appearance as part of the Nike Zoom Rookie, the Nike Air Flight One will make its return in two colorways. The All-Star-specific Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’ has a release date as well. Other sports with sneaker recognition are obviously the NBA and NCAA, which was headlined by Rip Hamilton’s White/Cement IVs. The celebrities had a quiet week, but Mark Wahlberg and his LeBrons made some noise towards the end, while Amare Stoudemire had to resign from his Foot Locker job in New York. Collab news included the vast previewing of the Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals collection for 2012, a sick partnership between PickYourShoes and Reebok, and the Fall 2012 Missoni x Converse capsule. Sneaker News Weekly Rewind: 1/7 1/13

Welcome to Week 2 of the new year, typically filled with broken resolutions and the itch to begin a fresh year’s worth of new sneakers. Sneaker News didn’t miss a beat with all the big-time news that went down, like the ‘Year Of The Dragon’ releases that featured special-edition boxes (Air Jordan with three shelves, Kobe VII with 3-D, KD IV with a all-around ‘tattoo’-ing). The LeBron ‘Year Of The Dragon’ is actually the ‘China’ that dropped in 2011, but we still got some LBJ headlines with the surfacing of the ‘Fortune’ Magazine Sample PE, inspired by one of LeBron’s favorite magazine covers. Chris Paul and the Jordan CP3.V made some news after last week’s debut, as CP3 and designer Tom Luedecke discussed the inspiration behind the detailed design of the CP3.V. With NBA and NCAA games in full swing, we caught a glimpse at some great sneakers, like LeBron’s Red/Black PE and the Zoom KD IV PE worn by the Texas Longhorns.

Are there plans to merge Nike SB and Nike 6.0? Recent developments point to some sort of restructuring of the two Action Sports brands, possibly to form one umbrella label to cover all genres. Nike Retros are poised for a strong year, with the Diamond Turf II, Total Griffey Max ’99, Zoom Huarache 2k4, and Air Max NM all making news this past week. On the flipside, the Zoom Rookie – a Retro-inspired hybrid – caught our attention with another look at the ‘Eggplant’ as well as a look at a Black/Gold sample. On adidas’ side, the adiRose Dominate came to light with the All-Star and Lei Feng special edition releases. Celebrity Feet is always a popular section on Sneaker News, and one common name is Wale, who owned all the headlines in that category until Chi McBride broke necks with some sick Jordans. Finally, Jason Negron continued his works of Foamposite art with a ‘Knicks’ custom. We’ve got plenty more headlines below so take a look at the Sneaker News Weekly Rewind to stay on top of all-things sneakers!
