If this week’s massive list of headlines is any indication as to how big 2013 is going to be, then this year might be the greatest year in sneakers…ever. In Air Jordan news, we got confirmation of a bunch of upcoming releases, with three Holiday 2013 drops including an all-new Air Jordan XI. Nike unveiled the 2013 BHM Collection, which focused on a sick grey/orange graphic on the three signs as well as the Lunar Force 1. The LeBron X Low has a release date already, but keep your eye on the Kobe 8 ‘Python’, which drops in early February. Foamposite news was huge as well, with the all-white joints getting a release date and the Barkley Posite Max now targeted for early/mid March. Nike SB hits us with a Quickstrike release for February inspired by the first black skater to grace the cover of the heralded Thrasher magazine, while Tyler, the Creator’s collab with Vans gets unveiled at a show in Berlin.

NBA Feet was highlighted by Russell Westbrook’s Air Jordan III PE, while LeBron set an NBA record in a special edition of his own. Jay-Z jumps on the Reebok bandwagon by rocking the Kamikaze II, while Tyga’s shoe with the brand gets more in-depth. Fila is getting back to the game with a sick Stackhouse Camo PE as well. Plenty of Air Max runners are on the way in EM and OG fashion, while other Retro runners from Asics, New Balance, and adidas get plenty of good headlines. A sick Air Jordan XIII ‘Cork’ teaser sends Jordan/LeBron fans in a frenzy, while a set of PEs made for some NBA icons reveal even more of the Air Jordan PE history. With 2012 in our rear-view mirror, we’re ready to take on 2013 with double the enthusiasm for sneakers. We got a first look at the 2013 Year of the Snake Collection by Nike as well as a few Black History Month editions set to hit stores within the next two months. A sick Air Jordan XI Low is confirmed for the Summer, while a new Barkley with All-Star allusions was revealed. The ‘Home’ KD V got some nice attention, as did a slew of Snake-inspired Kobe 8s. A release date for the Suns Foamposites was revealed, Brett Favre’s Zoom Turf Jet ’97 made a return to retail, and the next P-Rod was teased as well.

NBA ballers continued their impressive showcase with Thomas Robinson stealing the spotlight with his Air Flightposite One. Tim Tebow’s Nike shoe got a first look, as did official images of the highly-anticipated Reebok Kamikaze II. A slew of collaborations got some notice as well, like Slam Jam’s Asics Gel Lyte III, Packer Shoes’ Top Ten 2000s for Iman Shumpert, and a Herschel Supply Co. partnership with New Balance. A slew of Air Jordan PEs and Samples got our attention, like a surprising Air Jordan XVI Low that was intended for a Fall 2012 release. Before we kick off 2013, we took one final look back at all the major highlights of 2012. The Readers’ Choice Awards, the Top 23 Air Jordans of 2012, and the Year in Customs 2012 gave us a nice recap of all the heat that released (or was customized) in 2012. Moving right on to 2013 headlines, Jordan Brand gave us a look at a new grey/black/red PE colorway of the Air Jordan XIII, while a nice comparison of the Air Jordan III ‘White/Cement’ was presented to us. the Nike Air Raid “ParaNorman” was put up for auction at an event in Portland, while a Red/Black colorway of the Kobe 8 topped LeBron news. The Revis continues its strong momentum with a sick Oregon Ducks PE, while the new Hyperdunk 2013 surfaces for the first time.

NBA Feet and Celebs were another major hit, with some notable public sightings of Kanye, Wale, and Nas topping those headlines. The next Asics designed by Ronnie Fieg is revealed to be “Super Green”, while the Kamikaze II gets a release date. Two more Ewings are slated for a release soon, while a Play Cloths collab with Saucony is headed our way. A first look at the floral print on the Janoski gets revealed while Skate Mental’s collab is something to look forward to, while a large round-up of Air Force 1, New Balance, and Vans news gave us plenty to look forward to in 2013. A clean look at a rare Foamposite sample at a sick event out in China provided some nice entertainment. What an amazing year it’s been for sneakers. From the first of January to the final hours in December, the sneaker game was switched ‘on’ without a moment’s rest. Of course, Sneaker News covered all the best stories with our much-anticipated Top 30 of the year, which went live Friday afternoon. This intense project didn’t stop us from reporting all the news out there, starting from the Air Jordan sector and the first look at the Grapes, the confirmation of NIKE AIR, and Russell Westbrook’s ‘Camo’ XX8s. The ‘Camo’ Foamposite was confirmed to be a Pro model (not a One) and ‘The Glove’ will indeed drop this March, while contemporary Nike Basketball models like the Kobe 8, KD V, and LeBron X had their own highlights. Nike Running introduced the LE collection of the Air Max 1 and 2013, while the first row of HTM x Lunar Flyknit Chukkas were unveiled.

The final week of Air Force 1s for the AF1-XXX collection is upon as well, with a slew of new updates to iD (both Premium and the high-end Bespoke). The Air Force Max (a Barkley classic) is set for a release in early January. In other brand new, the Vans x Tyler, the Creator collaboration was unveiled, a Teyana Taylor x adidas project was previewed, a special PE of the Way of Wade was presented on Christmas Day (among a slew of other NBA Feet sightings), and the 3M sample of the Shaqnosis left us in a hypnotized state. Is this the biggest Air Jordan release weekend of all-time? Breds and Thunders hit stores on consecutive days, but Sneaker News kept you on your game with future Air Jordan release coming as soon as January 1st. Nike Basketball unveiled the ‘Christmas’ Collection while we got a look a slew of new KD colorways and Kobe 8 iDs. A second camo-based Foamposite looks to be hitting stores in 2013, perhaps as a ‘Pack’ with the Fighter Jet (a shoe that Rajon Rondo unveiled in this week’s jam-packed NBA Feet). Other notable on-feet sightings included Ewing in Ewings, Kim K in Flyknits, and Wale in some flashy adidas retros. The Air Force 1 newswire continues to stay hot with the Lunar Force 1 ‘City Pack’ and the snake-uppered joints. Another major headline in the Retro category was the Air Max 2 Strong in a ‘Suns’ colorway.

This was a big week for other brands as well, as adidas unveiled the 2013 ZX Pack and some Opening Ceremony partnerships. Reebok’s upcoming New Year’s Eve release of the Question will cap off a historic year for Reebok in the 21st Century. New Balance comes through with more camo as Fingercroxx and Ball and Buck put forth more personal designs. Vans hooks up with Tyler the Creator of the Odd Future collective, while custom sneakers are highlighted by a sweet Air Jordan X inspired by a 90′s cult-smash sitcom. Sneaker Con opens up its 2013 tour with a first-ever stop in Atlanta, arriving on January 5th. With all these amazing headlines dropping this week, Sneaker News is ready to close out the month of December with a bang. Four outstanding Air Jordan Retros were confirmed for 2013, while some new LeBrons and KDs were given firm release dates. The ‘Phoenix Suns’ colorway of the Air Foamposite One was revealed while the ‘Fighter Jets’ got a confirmed release date (and a price jump). Nike Sportswear closed out the AF1-XXX celebration with the Future of Force event at Barclays, the Zoom Revis jumped on the ‘Cool Grey’ boat, and the Zoom Flight 95 paid tribute to Jason Kidd in four team-based colorways. The Roshe is poised for another successful year as it attack graphic prints, and Japan’s mastermind teams up with the Dunk High for an amazing duo of releases.

Reebok made plenty of headlines with Packer Shoes’ sequel to the Question, a special Anniversary release of Fieg’s Selvedge Denims dropped, and adidas hit us with some more ‘classic’ Jeremy Scott joints like the Camo bear and another Wings 1.0. Ball and Buck hits us with another New Balance 574, Vans teams up with hip-hop/skate artist Lupe Fiasco, and the Nike SB Dunk High gets some shine with Classics Revisited. Mache Customs makes the headlines again with his sick Air Jordan IVs made for The Game, and Sneaker Con hits Charlotte, NC for the first time. Some major news to start of the month of December, with the media launch of the Air Jordan XX8 going down on Monday and Russell Westbrook wearing them against the Nets the next night.  That was followed by a one-on-one interview with KD designer Leo Chang, a personal Nike iD session with Stefan Janoski, and a announcement of the Li-Ning fashion line. A detailed look at the Kobe 8 ‘Christmas’ as well as a peek at the Kobe 8 iD made some headlines, while the Air Jordan 1 ‘Knicks’ revealed a Melo-inspired detail on the insole. The LeBron 9 Low continues to make noise with the ‘War Vet’ sample, and the Lunar Force 1 gears up for a debut on Monday with the Medicom Toy collaborations.

adidas made a major splash with the sick Allegra collaborations, and Ronnie Fieg’s denim GL3s by Asics got a confirmed release date. A first look at the Black/Volt Zoom Revis surfaced, as did a third colorway from Stussy’s Patchwork set of Pro Leathers. Dominique Wilkins got a special tribute with a re-issue of some OG Twilight Zone colorways, and some new Primeknits from adidas began to hit stores. A look at New Balance’s footwear for January 2013 got previewed, and CLOT teams up with Vans for a sick Tribesman Pack. Customs makes a big splash as LeBron James himself got blown away by one of Mache Customs’ work, while a ‘Python’ Air Jordan IV impressed the most fastidious of readers. It’s been an intense week for sneakers as we wrapped up the Black Friday releases and now head into the final month of the year. Starting off, Air Jordans made plenty of headlines with a bunch of GS 2013 offerings and a look at Carmelo’s Christmas shoes. Kobe Bryant’s eighth signature shoe launched this week, while a full detailed set of photos of the LeBronold PE surfaced. Kevin Durant’s Christmas shoe was confirmed, while Penny Hardaway’s Memphis tributes in Penny V form were revealed. Darrelle Revis’ ZR1 was unveiled this week as well, while a Barkley Foamposite model caused quite a stir in our comments section. NBA and celebrities came through with a massive NBA Feet and Celebrity Feet group, with Frank Ocean’s Supreme x SB Dunk taking center spotlight.

Japan’s atoms confirmed two Air Max 1 collaborations for January, while a slew of other Air Max VNTG releases were unveiled. Several collaborations, like Packer Shoes’ second Question attempt, Big Sean’s ‘Detroit Player’, Lil’ Wayne’s Supra S1W, DQM’s Vans Woven Pack, and DJ Mars’ New Balance 574 Custom made some nice headlines. Air Force 1s got plenty of shine again, with a detailed look at Rasheed Wallace’s Air Force 1 High PE and a full preview of mid-December releases. Custom kicks were a great feature as well, with a dope ‘Walking on Mars’ custom of the Foamposite getting a lot of attention. Finally, Sneaker News looked back at five Nike SB Dunk Lows from 2004 for Classics Revisited.
