To a greater degree than any other New Balance model except maybe the 1400, the 576 has issued a large proportion of pairs with the main upper material carried over to the traditionally mesh areas. In the case of this latest ‘Made in England’ New Balance 576 for women, that means that the lovely cobalt blue suede pictured above covers the toe and ankle ventilation zones. adidas Originals further remixes a style based in an early ’90s basketballer with a couple of additions we’ve seen Nike add to one of its key mid ’80s roundball release. The adidas Originals Amerlight Heel started with design cues from 1993′s Response Sock, then for this latest revision, added a hidden heel wedge a la Dunk Sky High and velcro strap like the SB and GS Dunk Mids. adidas Originals has done a great job in recent months of opening up its archives and bringing forth a greater variety of classic styles than ever before. One area where they’re still a little behind Nike Sportswear is with ladies colorways for the top old school runners, which the WMNS Air Max 1 has down to a science. The adidas Originals ZX 700 W could be a formidable response, as we see two new fairly feminine styles slated for a July release including one with a high-contrast feline print sockliner and another with a tonal Valentine’s-ish presentation. The ladies-only TR Fit series has been a big hit over the past three years and now Nike Training adds a new WMNS model to its ranks. The Nike WMNS Free TR Connect can be seen as another sign of the TR Fit line’s success, its low-profile barefoot-soled design adding Dynamic Flywire to stand out from its predecessors. A third Nike WMNS Free 5.0 V4 joins the speckled upper collection for summer with this latest revelation. This new Pink Force and Sail Free 5.0 V4 for women has a similar staticky upper to the black/Total Crimson edition we showed you earlier, but feels quite different thanks to their relative placements.
