The All-Star Game, Dunk Contest, 3-point Shootout, Skill Challenge, and Celebrity All-Star Game featured a ton of great kicks like the Hyperdunk 2011, Nike Basketball All-Star Colorways, adidas Basketball, and surprisingly, Chinese brand PEAK. The All-Star Game not only drew in the best talents in the NBA, but the biggest celebrities, as Jay-Z, P. Diddy, Beyonce, Justin Bieber, and many more of today’s hottest celebs came out to join in on the fun.

The All-Star Weekend was also a perfect opportunity for footwear brands to show off what they had in store; Jordan Brand’s complete transformation of Footaction in Culver City gave event-goers an opportunity to experience the Air Jordan 2011 as well as meet and greet the label’s top athletes. Nike Sportswear/Basketball also set up shop on Hollywood and Vine and a great ‘Los Fearless’ event space, which was the primary setting for the World Premiere of ‘The Black Mamba’. Kayo x Jordan Brand All-Star 2011 Skate Decks

Did Dr. Evil go to work for Jordan Brand after the Austin Powers trilogy came to a close?  There’s no denying that shortly after 2002′s Goldmember, JB seemed to become fixated on ‘lasers’, and while there’s nothing resembling a shark reference in the intervening years, we do have some evidence that the Jumpman brand is connected to The Alan Parsons Project.  All joking aside, it was Parsons’ prog-rock group that recorded the song ‘Sirius’ (better known as the Chicago Bulls’ entrance music) and that familiar tune serves as the background to this video depicting yet another surprise Air Jordan collaboration for NBA All-Star 2011.  The Kayo x Jordan Brand skateboard decks weren’t laser etched, but rather hand-painted and then treated to a Jumpman applique on the bottom plus an elaborate ‘Flight’ graphic on the ‘flypside’.  Blue and red decks were designed after the Air Jordan 2011′s signature ‘Quick/Explosive’ interchangeable cushioning system and you can see a black model go through its entire production process by clicking on the jump below.

NBA Feet: 2011 NBA All-Star Game

2011 nba all star game new 14 NBA Feet: 2011 NBA All Star Game

Los Angeles was the perfect stage for the star-studded event in all of professional sports. The city that invented the red carpet welcomed the 2011 NBA All-Stars with open arms (and a few playful boos for some of the Eastern Conference players) as the Staples Center opened its door for the weekend to hold the Rookie Challenge, 3-point shootout, Skills Challenge, Slam Dunk Contest, and of course, the 2011 NBA All-Star Game. Rosters on both sides were loaded with superstar talent with over half of the Eastern roster consisting of players from the Heat and Celtics. The Western Conference was no slouch either, led by 5-time champion Kobe Bryant, 3-time champion Tim Duncan, and the most exciting and ‘trending’ player in the league in Blake Griffin headlining the West roster.

The All-Star Game theme was once again a patriotic Red vs. Blue motif as the uniforms and signature sneakers all represented their respective conference’s colors. Starting on the East coast, Dwyane Wade debuted the all-new Air Jordan 2011 in White/Varsity Royal, LeBron James wore the LeBron 8 V/2 ‘All-Star’ in Treasure Blue, and Amare Stoudemire wore a new Air Max Fly By PE as well as a sweet new Zoom Huarache TR Mid PE colorway. The four Boston Celtics also caught our attention with some great Player Exclusives; Kevin Garnett wore a dazzling metallic silver PE of his Anta KG 1 signature, Rajon Rondo wore the Air Max 360 BB Low, Paul Pierce wore the Air Legacy 2 PE, and Ray Allen sported a gorgeous grey/white/blue PE of the Air Jordan 2011. Other notables included Joe Johnson’s Jordan Evolution ’85 PE, Derrick Rose’s adidas Rose Zero and adiRose 1.5 PE, and Dwight Howard’s Superbeast.

The Home Western Conference team did its best to counter the East’s barrage of kicks, led by ASG MVP Kobe Bryant’s Zoom Kobe VI ‘All-Star’, and Kevin Durant’s Zoom KD III. Jordan Brand’s two marquee athletes Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul wore All-Star colorways of their signature shoes – the Jordan Melo  M7 and CP3.IV. Deron Williams sported a nice PE of the Zoom Hyperfuse Low, and Kevin Love wore the PEAK Relentless PE. However, the show may have been stolen by the electrifying Blake Griffin, who not only held his own in his first ever NBA All-Star Game appearance, but debuted the all new Nike Hyperdunk 2011 in the ’10.0′ PE which features earthquake graphics. Air Jordan Evolution ’85 – Ray Allen Three-Point Shootout PE

air jordan evolution 85 ray allen 3 point contest PE 2 Air Jordan Evolution 85 Ray Allen Three Point Shootout PE

Maybe he was satisfied with the NBA career record for made three-pointers or maybe he didn’t want to dethrone teammate and defending Foot Locker 3-Point Shootout champ Paul Pierce, but Ray Allen didn’t add a second title to the one he won back in 2001.  Even though Miami guard James Jones walked away with the crown, Boston’s gotta be happy two of their big three made it to the final round and Ray played the entire way in his typically smooth style.  That inclues the above pictured pair of Air Jordan Evolution 85 PEs, ironically enough the same sneaker Sugar Ray wore during the Celtics’ last game vs. Miami.  Click through to see more of Ray Allen’s three point contest shoes and stick with Sneaker News to see what he and the rest of Jordan Brand‘s contingent show off during the 2011 NBA All Star Game.

Air Jordan CP3.IV – 2011 Skills Challenge PE

February 20th, 2011 by | 5 comments

jordan cp3.iv chris paul skills contest PE 3 Air Jordan CP3.IV 2011 Skills Challenge PE

However ironic it may be that a guy known for his shooting more than any other single attribute (other than perhaps diminutive stature) wasn’t in the Three-Point Shootout, it’s not a huge shock that Stephen Curry walked away with the 2011 Skills Challenge title.  Curry’s victory is among the most impressive in the event’s nine year history, as he was able to dispatch four other elite point guards including the guy who dropped 22 dimes en route to the Rookie Challenge MVP award *AND* both of the 2011 NBA All Star Game’s starting 1s.  The West’s PG Chris Paul was probably the favorite going in, and while he didn’t capture the crown, Paul played in style rocking this brand new Air Jordan CP3.IV PE.  Featuring the familiar Sunstone and Orion Blue accents to a black base, these CP3.IVs add patent leather on the tongue, toe and mudguard for a little extra All Star flare.  Click through to see more and let us know how these compare to Chris Paul’s Jordan Brand player exclusive sneakers for tonight’s ASG.

Nike Hyperdunk 2011 – Blake Griffin “10.0″ Slam Dunk Contest PE

February 20th, 2011 by | 83 comments

nike hyperdunk 2011 unworn 10.0 slam dunk contest PE Nike Hyperdunk 2011 Blake Griffin 10.0 Slam Dunk Contest PE

To the surprise of not many, Blake Griffin won the 2011 Slam Dunk Contest earlier tonight, and pretty much had it all wrapped up before they even rolled out the choir and the KIA for good measure. What was a bit of a shock though, was that while final round competitor, Javale McGee, was breaking out a new shoe for every dunk, Blake remained in a red/black Nike Air Max Fly By throughout – not the Hyperdunk 2011 PE that he was expected to debut for the Slam Dunk festivities. Playing up the “10.0″ earthquake concept which ties into the perfect 10 dunk score, Nike had an eye-catching glow in the dark red/grey/black PE version of the still unreleased Hyperdunk 2011 all ready for Griffin to show off tonight, but for some reason, the shoes never saw the floor.

That didn’t stop Blake from taking home the trophy, but man, would these have looked nice on his feet doing it. They might not have had their spotlight during All-Star Saturday Night, but you can check out what could have been after the jump, and we’ll let you know if there’s any word why they went unworn in the contest. For now, let’s cross our fingers that maybe they find their way onto the court tomorrow night during the third and final leg of the 2011 NBA All-Star Blake Griffin Weekend.
