Converse and Marimekko have been in love for nearly two years now, and there’s a variety of new eye-catching patterns on the way for the first half of 2013. We’ll start with the Marimekko x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Platform EVA, a disco-fied take on the classic Chuck whose red and white striped super-sole echoes the colors used in a strawberry patterned upper. Converse has plenty of premium treatments up their sleeves for Spring/Summer of 2013 thanks to the likes of the John Varvatos and Marimekko collaborations sticking around. The JV side of things will continue its vintage, zipper laden look via models like the Converse JV Weapon Mid and the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star. On the more cutesy end of the spectrum are the Marimekko pairs, which rely on rather bright shapes and patterns to set them apart. The Converse Premium Collection for spring 2012 proves that this can be achieved in a number of ways, the most to the letter of which is the application of whimsical prints on the Chuck Taylor All Star in the latest round of Converse ♥ Marimekko releases. Longtime One Star guest designer John Varvatos adds his own offerings, but as you might expect, they’re crafted in dingy destructed leathers instead of the classic canvas build. Converse has been able to garner significant mainstream attention by collaborating with high-end fashion names ranging from Missoni to Sak, their latest bringing in Scandanavia once again to ensure the One Star remains truly a global fashion icon.
