A$AP Rocky is the kind of guy who isn’t afraid to shout out sneakers in his lyrics. Most of the time though he’s talking about a pair of Jeremy Scott adidas or some high end stuff that costs a car payment. Ending up just a little bit more pedestrian, Rocky shows up here with the Air Jordan III on feet in the white/cement colorway. Right by his side Swizz Beatz holds up the high end, wearing some green paisley business from Givenchy. Get the full images of these New York hip-hop figures in their fancy footwear right after the jump.

Over the last few days, adidas Originals gave new meaning to the name “All-Star Weekend” with a non-stop schedule of star-studded events held at adidas retailers in the Houston area. It started with the grand opening event of adidas Originals Collective by Footaction in the Willowbrook Mall, where Big Sean and DMC came through to meet and greet fans (did you catch our interview?). On the same night, the Eason Chen x Jeremy Scott Wings dropped at Premium Goods to a sold out crowd as well. Friday’s events kept up the pace as Teyana Taylor’s Harlem GLC released at the adidas Performance store at the Galleria Mall, with a special in-store event with Teyana herself going down later in that day. She provided a live performance of her tracks, but her G.O.O.D. Music pals Big Sean and Pusha T tore the roof off with an abridged rendition of the Grammy-nominated track “Mercy”. Teyana finished off the night sharing hugs with every single fan that stayed ’til the very end.
Continuing the adidas Originals takeover was an in-store appearance at Galleria Mall’s Shiekh Shoes by none other than the undisputed sneakerhead celeb Wale. He stuck around to hand out autographs, with special first-dibs going to those who copped the adidas Originals TSR Lite “Trophy Hunter”. Just below, NBA All-Star Dwight Howard made an appearance at the adidas Performance store. Sunday’s closing events featured A$AP Rocky making an extended appearance at the H-Town Sneaker Summit, where hundreds of fans gathered to take personal photos with the exploding star. Teyana Taylor stopped by as well, closing out four days of great events for sneakerheads, hip-hop fans, and followers of urban culture alike. Many thanks to adidas Originals for giving Sneaker News the ultimate All-Star experience!

One of the hottest names in the hip-hop and urban lifestyle scene is none other than Rakim Mayers, or better known as Rocky of the A$AP Mob. With the recent release of Long Live A$AP, his consistent sightings in the front rows of the biggest fashion shows, and the buzz around the A$AP Mob as one of the brightest stars in the hip-hop scene, Rocky is enjoying the center stage – and doing so while expressing his emotions with his wit and complex lyrics. Sneaker News got the chance to spend some time with the A$AP Mob leader over the All-Star Weekend, sharing a nice box suite during the Dunk Contest (courtesy of adidas) while exchanging critiques of the Dunk participants.
The real conversation came on Sunday after he spent over an hour signing autographs and posing for photos with fans who showed up at the adidas Originals showcase at H-Town Sneaker Summit; we talked about why he’s drawn to the adidas Y-3 and Jeremy Scott lines, the surprising and ambitious work he’s dabbling in right now, and why he feels like his iconic status in fashion and sneakers is warranted – all topped off with a rather juicy quote at the end in regards to the potential for his own signature sneaker in the future.
