Now that he’s a free agent, it seems soccer superstar David Beckham has nothing better to do than crank out sneakers with the adidas Originals team. OK that’s not entirely true, as the David Beckham x adidas Originals capsules are more built around the man’s style than by Becks himself, with James Bond of UNDFTD fame actually doing most of the heavy lifting design-wise. We’ve got a look at what’s on the way for 2012 from this team-up, which features a range of sneakers with a contemporary lean. The favorite adidas ZX 800 DB is back with two bright new colorways, standouts in a pack otherwise characterized by more muted choices. They came in colorways made famous by some of the original ZX series runners, but when the adidas Originals adiMEGA Torsion Flex debuted last summer, the closest thing anyone’d seen to their unique sole design was probably something from the Reebok ZigTech line. But now that we’ve had a good six months to digest the exaggerated flexible sole, it’s time to welcome some new variations on the silhouette like this new Mega Torsion Flex Trek that adds a midfoot strap to a white and black colorway with newly emphasized branding. The gold hit on the upper ankle is a particularly nice feature on this pair, a detail that serves to connect these to Three Stripes’ long established street cred despite these being as far from a Superstar shelltoe as you can get. Like many of adidas Originals’ sneakers, these are for the bold, and you can find them available now at select retailers including Kicks-crew.
