The adidas Originals Campus AS made its first appearance this June, a fresh take on a classic model whose new suffix appears to denote the ‘alternate sole’ setup that sets its apart from the original. Additional changes to the AS Campus include the leather piping that enhances the eyestay line and the molded heel counter that emerges from that new cupsole. In the sneaker world, a designation like ‘AS’ has a high degree of correlation with NBA All-Star shoes. There’s no clear connection here on the adidas Originals Campus AS, which suggests the suffix is there to designate a difference in construction. The forefoot shape has been altered a bit, including a piping on the eyestay that offers a subtle alert these are different from earlier Campus drops. Add in a rubber external heel counter and the change is more clear, but the burgundy suede plus white accents combo is sure to satisfy many of the same fans.
