It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since adidas Skateboarding introduced the Campus Vulc. So much has changed in skate aesthetics over that time, but this classic Three Stripes shape remains a go-to design thanks to simple yet effective colorways like this new Cinder suede makeup. Featuring white Stripes, yellow branding and a gum sole, there’s some crossover with Chewy Cannon‘s September ’12 release, and you can see more of how they compare below before buying from retailers like Flatspot.

Something like the adidas Skateboarding equivalent to Nike SB’s Blazer lineup, the Campus Vulc continues to release in new low and hightop styles. This latest adidas Skateboarding Campus Vulc Mid comes in a colorway as simple as its ’70s era construction, a black mix of leather and suede that gives way to grey accents, golden branding and a white vulcanized sole. The effect is all at once traditional and trendy thanks to that ‘Golden Moments’ momentum, and once you’ve seen more photos after the jump, you can grab a pair from Premier.

Recent KR3W signee Chewy Cannon has been riding for the Brand with the Three Stripes for a little over a year now, and while he has yet to sniff the rarefied air of signature-land like Lucas Puig and Dennis Busenitz, could one be in store? adidas Skateboarding typically starts its guys off with a pro edition colorup before moving on to an eponymous release, and this new ‘Chewy’ adidas Campus Vulc is the first step in that direction. Done up in black suede with yellow heels, white Stripes and sockliners, the Chewy Campus Vulc rides a gum vulc sole and is available now at select skate shops like Flatspot.

adidas Skateboarding isn’t restructuring or collaborating with Levi’s; they didn’t create a 4/20 sneaker and haven’t dropped any frustratingly-limited releases. What the Three Stripes skate divison does have, however, is a seemingly neverending supply of classic lowtop designs to which simple colorways can be applied beautifully and in large numbers. Their latest round of releases includes drops ranging from Lucas Puig’s white adidas Skate Rod Laver Vin to Dennis Busenitz’ grey/green Samba-inspired sigs, along with standby models like the adi Ease and Campus Vulc. Check out the entire collection below and grab yours from select retailers like DQM.

We already saw the Swoosh do the wine colored kicks this year, so is the adidas Skateboarding line trying to play catch up here? Well not really, as these use the vino look pretty sparingly, opting merely for a rosy stripe on the midsole foxing. Besides this little splash of color, the adidas Skateboarding Campus Vulc Mid keeps things pretty neutral with the khaki suede on top. Astute readers will notice the bonus of a leather tongue, a deviation in the typical material selection that doesn’t pop up too often. Follow us after the jump to get the full look, and grab the adidas Campus Vulc Mid now from Premier.

Many have suggested Nike SB is getting back to its roots this year, as evidenced by the rehashing of familiar old colorways along with a return to simpler palettes in general. But if you look at the history of adidas Skateboarding, while we’ve seen several head-turners over the years, it’s just as easy to argue that Three Stripes’ skate division has always been offering the kind of simply satisfying looks that took hold in the early to mid ’90s. Take these three new pairs, for example — each of them uses no more than three colors on a classic silhouette to offer a trio of timeless looks in the adidas Skate Ronan (Pete Eldridge’s pro model), the Dennis Busenitz sig and a campus vulc that looks good no matter who’s wearing’ em. Click through to see all three and grab these from select adidas Skateboarding retailers like Premier.
