One of the original Kobe Bryant adidas Basketball signatures, the adidas Crazy 8 has expanded its scope considerably in the past few months.  Along with a significant variety of fresh new colorways, we’ve seen a series of transformations, be it construction as with the Opening Ceremony collab, team allegiances with the ‘Denver Nuggets’ edition or even visibility with a recent camo drop.  The latest makes you wonder what the NBA would be like if talent had followed Deron Williams to Salt Lake City instead of the inverse, this Utah Jazz-leaning Crazy 8 a novel approach to colorblocking that you can see in greater detail below before buying at Finishline.

Opening Ceremony continues to make noise with its adidas Originals partnership, offering up five new drops across two reinterpreted 1990s favorites.  The Opening Ceremony x adidas Originals Crazy 8 reinterprets an early Kobe Bryant signature with a forefoot strap, new brackets at the rear and a couple of high-contrast palettes made all the more impactful by stripes similar to the OC Rod Laver VINs.  Three EQT Trail OCs go in a different yet equally eye-catching direction, changing the former basketball midtop into a weather-ready trail boot with vibrant animal print under the suede overlay.  Check out each colorway after the jump and find the Opening Ceremony Trail EQT now with the Crazy 8 to follow on March 1st at select Originals accounts.

Opening Ceremony x adidas Originals Spring/Summer 2013 Preview

adidas Originasl by opening ceremony SS13 Preview 29 570x379 Opening Ceremony x adidas Originals Spring/Summer 2013 Preview

Berlin Fashion Week brought out the best from footwear brands showing off their early 2013 goods, and while most of the attention on adidas Originals has come from Jeremy Scott’s typically outlandish efforts, there was an equally eye-catching capsule on display at Three Stripes’ No.74 store.  And as you look closely at the range of designs depicted in more photos after the jump, you’ll see that the Opening Ceremony x adidas Orignials capsule offers J.Scott some serious competition, both in terms of footwear and apparel offerings.  The styles range from low-profile runners to rugged hightop hiking boots with plenty of animal prints and other patterns spread across the whole capsule.  Conspicuous by its absence (though hinted by Humberto Leon’s tee) was the blue-ragged Boat Swim Shoe we showed you last week, but there’s another taste of LA here in the Opening Ceremony x adidas Crazy 8 Tennis, a shoe that seems particularly well-named in the context of its revamped design.  Check out the entire set in more photos below, let us know which pairs have you most excited and stick with Sneaker News for US release info.

There’s no question that with his ultracompetitive spirit and the drive to match Michael Jordan’s six NBA Championships, Kobe Bryant would rather be battling (for a spot) in the NBA Finals than sitting at home waiting to see if the Thunder-Heat dream matchup comes true.  Kobe’s first three rings were earned in adidas sneakers, and this latest Three Stripes release not only puts a warlike look onto arguably the most famous of those releases, but it also manages to squeeze a little Boston Celtics energy into the mix to make things even more combative.  The latest adidas Crazy 8 is decked out in green-heavy four-color camo with black creating a strong contrast on the soles and side panel Stripes.  This is the first new Crazy 8 release since last the ‘Denver Nuggets’ pair popped up around the turn of the year; which of these vanquished NBA Playoffs foes makes for a better Kobe Bryant adidas retro?  Let us know when you’re checking out more photos on the other side and grab yours today from Eastbay.

These days Kobe makes a significant effort to let it be known that he’s a Nike company man, but we all remember his start in the footwear world with the Three Stripes. This year’s return of his second signature shoe with adidas, the Crazy 8 apparently had our readers reminiscing, as the 1998 NBA All-Star Game edition locked down the title of Best Adidas Release in our readers choice poll. Since you guys are checking for them, here’s a look at a new navy and gold colorway that has a bit of a Denver Nuggets feel to it. Hit the jump for a more detailed look and let us know if the adidas Crazy 8 reissue is stealing any thunder away from Kobe’s latest Swoosh product. If you like what you see, the Navy/Gold colorway can be had now at Finishline.
