The adidas Mutumbo looks something straight outta the Jeremy Scott line, but this early-90′s original was done out of the eccentric designer’s grasp (although a Jeremy Scott x adidas Mutumbo sounds inevitable and equally insane). While the original colorway is indeed making a comeback this July, we’re getting a first look at some new concepts as this Royal Blue/Red colorway is splashed on the upper for a refreshed look. November 2013 is the ETA for this Sixers and semi-Knicks looking colorway (betcha don’t remember Mutumbo on the Knicks), so check the additional angles and let us know if the adidas Mutumbo comeback is anywhere on your radar.

Dikembe Mutumbo’s wagging finger made a hilarious comeback in those GEICO ads, but one thing he can’t deny is the return of his official shoe with adidas – the adidas Mutumbo. Though these are more of a visual attractions rather than a technological marvel, the adidas Mutumbo arrives at a time when Retro is the hot item for all footwear brands across the board. adidas’ catalog of signature shoes in the 20th Century is rather slim, so after the Mutumbo, there isn’t much that adidas Originals can go back to – unless more T-Mac signatures or even the Arenas line gets a second run. July is the reported month of release, so until then, we’ll keep you updated on any relevant information until we get an official release date.

We know Nike and Air Jordans were known for comfort. This is taking it to another level.
