As you know, the sneakers pay tribute to the old (Championship winning) New Jersey Americans ABA team, coloring up the adidas Originals Conductor Hi model to match up with their patriotic theme. Packer Shoes of Teaneck, NJ is readying their latest collaborative sneaker release, with the adidas Originals Conductor Hi they’ve cooked up on tap to launch this Saturday, November 17th. The Packer Shoes x adidas Originals Conductor Hi ‘NJ Americans’ pays homage to the local ABA team that played at the Teaneck Armory in the 60′s and was actually the first iteration of the newly re-relocated Brooklyn Nets. The DJ Neil Armstrong hosted and Ciroc sponsored event will take place at 7:30PM, with additional pairs going up for grabs on Packer’s website the following Monday for $140 (and the rest of the 600 pair run hitting a handful of select US retailers in the coming weeks). The first 40 customers in-store will get a free Conductor t-shirt with their purchase, so get there early if you plan to get a pair. Before they were the Brooklyn Nets, they were the New Jersey Nets, and before they were the New Jersey Nets, they were the New Jersey Americans. Paying homage to that ABA championship squad of old and their former home, the Teaneck Armory, which Packer Shoes happens to share a zip code with, the NJ shop has gotten together with adidas Originals for the “New Jersey Americans” Conductor Hi. The sneaker features a patriotic palette of premium suede, leather and heavy duty mesh for the uppers, a tongue logo that serves as a nod to the Americans logo, classic Army camo on the lining and insole for the Armory feel, and a tri-colored Trefoil and splash of 3M on the heel. Back before he had his own line of sneaks, New York’s own Patrick Ewing rocked this stoic black and white colorway of the the adidas Originals Conductor Hi, along with some other Three Stripes models tying in a bit more with the Knicks theme.
