The adidas Originals Phantom will betray its moniker quite a bit this season, as the sneaker is set to don a ton of rather bright colorways that will render it all but unseen. The Phantom, a 1985 design from the adidas team, is sort of the antithesis of all the Jeremy Scott stuff that’s been going on as of late. As it turns out, the pair is part of a three sneaker pack that brings in a couple more brightly tinted adidas Originals retros. Don’t forget that outside of the boundary busting Jeremy Scott releases and the contemporary basketball bangers within the adidas Crazy Light line the Three Stripes still has a huge stable of revered retro models waiting in the wings. Historically more appreciated by our friends across the pond, runners like the adidas Originals Phantom simply don’t get the respect they deserve stateside. Looking to reverse that trend is this blue based colorway, a pair that adds in some minimal white and red to an almost USA effect (maybe the patriotic pull will bring some heads on board). Click through with us to check out this 2012 adidas Originals Phantom retro and pick up the runners on preorder now from End Clothing.

Fitting isn’t it that a sneaker dubbed the PHANTOM should end up so elusive in the adidas Originals retro catalog? The mid hitting sequel saw some retros a few years back but other than that this model has been kinda MIA-until now. Its return is brought on by a colorway just about as inconspicuous as its moniker, a shadowy pairing of greys and blacks with just a hint of dark royal thrown in there, keeping the runner pretty low key. Stay with us after the jump to see more of the adidas Originals PHANTOM and be on the lookout for this model come Fall 2012. Photos: SDG
