When it comes to sneaker collaborations, Solebox really gets around. If you look at their rap sheet over the past year alone you’ll see that they’ve already linked up with Reebok, Saucony, Supra, and Puma. They’re about to add another notch to their belt in the form of this, an adidas Originals team up that oughta be an all-German banger (both entities were born there). We’re hard pressed to think of any of his recent creations that didn’t build a buzz in one way or another. Aiming to prove their acumen in retro mashups, adidas Originals is prepping the release of the adidas Originals ZX Comp, a sneaker which cross breeds two hallmark styles from the Three Stripes. Probably the more well known of the spiritual predecessors is the adidas Originals ZX 750, a runner straight out of the 80′s whose angular upper has managed to stay contemporary thanks to a little retro love and a lot of community support. The other model included in the DNA is the adidas LA Competition, the unique plugged midsole of which shows up on the lower half of the adidas Originals ZX Comp shown here. The formula of taking a classic silhouette and jamming it onto a retooled sole is something we should all be familiar with at this point. Think of it as a roundabout way to introduce retro-oriented buyers to newer technology. That’s what’s going on here, as the adidas Originals Samoa gets an upgrade in the form of the Torsion Flex system on bottom. The oversized nubs of the bright white sole allow for a greater detail of flexibility, to an extent that would never be possible with the original Samoa makeup.
