The adidas Originals Phantom will betray its moniker quite a bit this season, as the sneaker is set to don a ton of rather bright colorways that will render it all but unseen. The Phantom, a 1985 design from the adidas team, is sort of the antithesis of all the Jeremy Scott stuff that’s been going on as of late. Rather than remixing the old look with some flamboyant additions, the silo has been kept in tact in what adidas is calling a “one-to-one” reissue (We’ll let you be the final judge of that). See the full breadth of the adidas Originals Phantom stuff for Spring/Summer 2013 below and grab them now straight from adidas.

With most ZX models taking a breather, adidas Originals has opened the gate for a variety of classic running models to return to store shelves. The adidas Originals Phantom has capitalized on this opportunity with a substantial variety since its return, which seems to be accelerating as we head into the warm part of the year. This latest colorway could pass for an original with black plus Running and Vapor Whites lending a timeless elegance to the suede and mesh classic. These stand as a subdued answer to similarly blocked Infrared and Electricity styles, so have a closer look below, let us know which extreme you prefer, then grab these at Three Stripes stores like Caliroots.

adidas Originals brings forth a trio of heritage classics in soft suede shades just in time for spring. The adidas Originals ‘Spring Pack’ manifests in the form of pastels and other muted colors across these classic models, with the adidas Originals Gazelle OG further adding three more shades to its recent rainbow of nappy selections. The adiSTAR Racer also gets three pairs to itself, so even though the Phantom is outnumbered, its Dark Petrol and Coral belnd is arguably this pack’s most expressive design. Let us know which you like best after perusing the whole collection below and look for yours at select Three Stripes stockists.

The first adidas Originals Phantom to release when the model was resurrected last year was the slightly patriotic Pool and Dark Royal edition. Compared to that reintroduction, it’s fascinating how much swapping one scarcely used accent color for another changes the overall feel. Thanks to yellow instead of a little bit of red, these new Phantoms look far less USA-y and more of a springy energetic colorway that’d be just as welcome in 1985 as today. Have a closer look below, then grab yours from Three Stripes stockists like Caliroots.

The adidas Originals Phantom returned in January and has built a bit of momentum with a steady stream of new colorways. Here’s a closer look at the pair that stood out as most eye-catching when we previewed Three Stripes’ spring/summer 2013 classic running collection back in December, an Electricity and black build that appears in these new shots a bit greener than in the initial images. Have a closer look at the color in question as it appears on suede, mesh and nylon below, then pre-order the Electricity Phantoms from End.

The adidas Originals Phantom has appeared in a variety of tonal colorways since re-emerging late last year. This latest example is based in red tones and namely the Cardinal shade whose deep brick tones bear more than a passing resemblance to Stanford University gear as paired with the White Vapour accents. This suede and nylon throwback should arrive at select Three Stripes retailers in April and you can see more angles below to compare to the recent releases.

Our most recent adidas Originals Phantom preview stood out for its use of an extremely eye-catching red shade on the midsole. This latest colorway is roughly inverted, with Infrared taking over the entire upper of a black-accented Phantom that’s the most eye-catching design since it came back onto the scene a few months back. The mix of early ’90s bold coloring with the low profile 1985 running silhouette is a curious match of which you’ll want to see more below as we approach a March ship date.

A practically forgotten part of the Three Stripes running lineage as recently as a year ago, the adidas Originals Phantom reasserts its return with a third colorway previewed for the Fall 2013 season. Sticking with the traditional suede and nylon build instead of the fresh all-suede makeup we’d seen on earlier Q3 previews, the Phantom manages a fine balance between vintage running aesthetics and today’s trends by accenting the timeless navy, white and red combo with an extremely eye-catching midsole insert. Check back with Sneaker News to find out when they arrive at US retailers and click through for more in the meantime.
