Derrick Rose recently returned to full-contact practice with the Chicago Bulls. Da Bulls hold a slim lead over Indiana in the Central Division and could really use their leader to both seal off the Pacers and prepare for the demands of postseason basketball. A return from arguably the league’s best point guard would be akin to the nickname of the adidas Rose 3.5 ‘Spark’, a radioactive mix of neon and the ever popular red and black. Derrick Rose is like the Darrelle Revis of the NBA. Both are star players capable of dominating a game, both players had new signature shoes debut in the second half of 2012, and both were inactive (for the most parts) in their current seasons due to injury. Regardless of the fact that both are out of action, their off-the-court/field presence has been noted, leading to a considerable consumer response on both the Rose 3 and Zoom Revis. We recently showed you the Nike Zoom Revis ‘Pro Bowl’, which caused some chatter among our readers since Revis wasn’t selected on the team, but the same goes for D Rose, who will be absent during February’s NBA All-Star Game. Will the Year of the Snake prove prosperous for Derrick Rose? The NBA’s youngest-ever MVP got a raw deal during the Dragon’s turn, and adidas looks to rectify the absence of a direct-tie in to Chinese New Year with this new colorway on what would presumably be the playoff shoe for a guy who’s supposedly “very close” to returning to the NBA hardwood. Take the adidas D Rose 3.5 “Year of the Snake” as a good omen, then, this eye-catching array of textures and eye-catching finishes whose blue, black and gold colorway also makes a loose tie-in with being best in the Eastern Conference. The adidas Rose 3.5, D Howard Light, and Crazy Light 2 serve as the representatives for the upcoming mid/late-February classic, with each model owning a punchy colorway that should battle for attention with what Nike has to offer.
