Derrick Rose and adidas Basketball takes us down memory lane with this ‘Throwback’ colorway of the adidas Rose 3; inspired by the loud and distinct colors of early-90′s fashion, this Rose 3 is pained up in a neon green and electric blue, with a sick zig-zag graphic print tonally grabbing the upper. The inner face of the tongue, a locale in which adidas has designated as a unique marker for the Rose 3, features ‘South Side’ and ’773′ – a tribute to Rose’s roots. There’s something special about growing up to play professionally in the same city that raised you, a hometown status drawing the surrounding community in that much closer to your struggles and triumphs. Will Derrick Rose ever fully recapture the greatness he displayed in earning the NBA MVP award at an age younger than any previous recipient? D-Rose is still rehabbing a catastrophic knee injury suffered during the opening game of last season’s playoffs, but adidas continues the rollout of his third signature as a reminder that even if Chicago’s 1 isn’t on the court come opening day, the Bulls are still a threat the second he returns. The adidas Rose 3 ‘Alternate Away’ reads like a traditional Bulls road getup, but even with a colorway matching some of Michael Jordan’s most famous, it’s just a bit off until Derrick himself rocks them on court. You’ll have your chance first, with a Thursday, November 1st release at adidas Sports Performance locations in Chi-town and New York, plus the adidas Basketball e-store, and you can see more images below in the meantime.

In the context of Bulls point guard Derrick Rose, and especially in Chicago, any mention of a ‘nightmare’ will have you hearing Kevin Harlan’s ‘dagger’ of a call that signaled the fall of the Eastern Conference’s #1 seed and their great young leader. D-Rose’s knee is getting stronger as we’ve seen from Three Stripes ongoing support and they’ll keep it up by issuing themed colorways even before he can get back on the court. The adidas Rose 3 ’Nightmare Before Christmas’ puts a playful spin on a morbid theme, applying a color scheme inspired by the poster art for Tim Burton‘s breakthrough animated film, plus sublimated graphics across the upper. They’ve got ’12-24-12′ embroidery on the inner tongue (which is actually an off day as the Bulls get ready to host Houston on Christmas Day) in reference to the movie’s setting and the release date; will you grab these purple Rose 3s even with all the other Christmastime releases (including one Bulls release that’s among the year’s biggest)? An in-depth breakdown of Derrick Rose’s new logo with adidas revealed that the design was a tribute to his three brothers. Furthering Derrick’s honoring of his family is this tonal-red colorway of the adidas Rose 3 dubbed ‘Brenda’; this rose red colorway features an elegant cursive font on the inner face of the tongue spelling out Derrick’s mother’s name, with an electricity green insole providing some interesting contrast on the passionate colorway. The team at adidas basketball continues to spin the story of Derrick Rose‘ eventual return to the NBA, this latest clip touching on his motivations and goals. It appears that even at a young age Rose had his mind set on what he needed to achieve via his game, citing the desire to put his family in a better situation with his talents. He’s certainly done that, with the next target being an NBA championship, something well within reach for the Chicago Bulls once they get their star back. The recently launched adidas Rose 3 will undergo an evolution in two directions – the upgraded 3.5 model, which we’ve previewed earlier, and the low-cut Rose 3 Low, seen here in this energetic colorway inspired by Africal tribal prints. The transition from Mid to Low is fairly straightforward, but you can see the interior bootie product from the upper skin to create a minimal low-profile shoe that resembles a running sneaker. No word on release info just yet, but check out the adidas Rose 3 Low in two extra angles below and let us know what you think.
