The Chi-town stories of the adidas Rose 3 continue to unfold as we get yet another high-energy colorway of Derrick Rose’s third signature shoe. This neon green/royal blue pair is dubbed ‘South Side’ – a tribute to the graffiti visuals of the area that serve as one of the iconic landmarks of the city. Peep the inner tongues and you’ll see ‘South Side’ and ’773′ displayed in graffiti style, with the bold-striped insoles and zig-zag detailing on the upper completing the overall flair of this sick concept. The adidas Rose 3 continues to cram in details that point towards Rose’s hometown, telling the story of the community that helped raise the one time Rookie of the Year. The latest pair, pictured above in a rather electric look, turns out to be an homage to the city’s fire department, the shiny rubberized upper made to mimic the protective coats worn by those brave civil servants. The return of Derrick Rose hasn’t quite come full circle yet, you’ll have to wait till this year’s NBA season gets going for that saga to be complete. What is ready to come back however is his signature line of sneakers with adidas, the adidas Rose 3 leading the next wave of footwear crafted for the young Chicago Bull. And the first few colorways to hit stores will definitely do so with a distinct Chicago makeup, the home and away colored versions on display here. The location – the Chicago Illuminating Company in Chicago , IL. The guests – Derrick Rose, his family, and the adidas Basketball Team. The focus – the launch of the adidas Rose 3 and the adidas Rose Apparel Collection. The adidas Rose 3 marks the the third overall installment of the adidas Derrick Rose signature line, but this one arrives at a tricky time. As you all know, Derrick Rose is still recovering from a serious injury, but what may be devastating to one player is just another challenge to D-Rose. The progress he’s made, as documented by the documentary series known as ‘The Return of Derrick Rose’, will only lead to harder, better, faster, and stronger Rose once he returns.
During the media presentation, adidas Global Basketball VP Lawrence Norman, joined by Derrick Rose and adidas Basketball designer Rob Lee, laid out the groundwork of the adidas Rose 3, the adidas Rose Apparel line, and documentary series; as part of the presentation, the first episode of ‘The Return of Derrick Rose’ was shown, and almost immediately, Derrick Rose – a typically stoic, emotionless, and all-business individual – broke down in soft tears. Tears of sadness? Perhaps, but it was a sheer combination of his determination, passion, and love for his family (the Rose logo is a tribute to his three brothers and his mother at the center) that reminded him why he’s one of the greatest athletes in the world and why he’s going to be better than ever.
The shoes: easily the most luxurious adidas Rose we’ve ever seen. Featuring a leather upper, quilted sockliner, and Rose graphics on the inner tongue, the adidas Rose design is inspired by Derrick’s roots in Englewood (73rd St. and Paulina) and his playing days in Murray Park. The Rose 3 releases on October 4th with an MSRP of $160, but we’ll have more detailed images of the adidas Rose 3 and the adidas Rose Apparel Line as well as one-on-one interviews with Lawrence Norman, Rob Lee, and Apparel designer Travis Blasingame soon, so check out the adidas Rose 3 Media Launch Event below and stay tuned for more from this milestone occasion by adidas Basketball.

Established in 1919, the Chicago Bears are one of only two original NFL franchises still remaining from the league’s founding. With that much history in America’s third largest TV market, it’s easy to understand why this upcoming adidas adiZero Rose 3.0 release is going to be just as popular as the Bulls joints.
