It was second only to the capital of the brand’s homeland when it came time for adidas Originals to open its initial flagship locations a decade ago, and now the Tokyo AO shop will join its Berlin counterpart with a ‘Made for’ 10th Anniversary release. The adidas Originals Superstar 80s ‘Made for Tokyo’ is inspired by the furistic tech vibe of the city for which they’re named, the mix of leather and rubber on the upper mixed with a soft suede lining plus Clarion synthetics to aide in breathability. They’re coming up for a December release along with a matching track jacket, so click through to see more angles and stick with Sneaker News for the 10th Anniversary Tokyo Superstar 80s release date.

If there was ever a time you desiered to walk through concert doors or roam all over coliseum floors, it very well might be now. No, there’s not another Live Aid/8 benefit concert coming up to commemorate the fifth birthday of the last one, but instead an anniversary for one of the first explicit instances of overlap between hip-hop culture and major sneaker brands. The Run-DMC x adidas Originals Superstar 80s ’My adidas’ 25th Anniversary edition commemorates five x five years since the song that gave a name to Three Stripes online customization service first hit radio airwaves. These are unique for their use of custom embroidery on the rear as well as a dookie rope dubrae; are they the greatest shelltoe release of the last quarter-century? Click through to see some more images and expect these in stores starting Friday, November 11th, a fittingly timed release for one of the rap game’s oldest veteran groups. via HB

This latest release from adidas Originals doesn’t come with an official pack or nickname in tow, but it’s not too much of a stretch to see these as inspired by heavy metal music given the combination of black leather and metal studs. The newest adidas Originals Superstar 80s mixes a glossy black leather accents with a flatter finish on the perforated vamp, that along with the tonal laces, lining and sole, come together for quite a range of darkness, all of which is offset by the conical studs that appear in lieu of the typical eyelets. That means the laces on these are somewhat ‘hidden’, an interesting look for a model so often associated with the ‘fat’ look, and you can see more images after the jump. Let us know how these compare to your other favorite Shelltoe designs and look for these at select Three Stripes retailers like their Trinoma store in the Philippines. via SM

adidas Originals seems to be quite a big fan of glow in the dark snakeskin, the above pictured model number four in a series of Japanese-exclusive collaborations with the Tokyo sneaker shop, atmos. The atmos x adidas Originals Superstar 80s G-SNK IV is the plainest yet, their black-on-white colorway roughly the opposite of DJ Hassebe’s contribution earlier in the series. This simple palette and the off-white sole and toecap will have folks seeing these as a vintage release and then BAM, the lights go off and you’re the only person in the room with glowing green feet. Click through to see more angles and expect these at atmos next month.

adidas Originals celebrated the weekend of the Fourth with a duo of classic models released in one of the brand’s most frequently used colorways. You can apply that same description to this new set of adidas Originals Forum Mids and Superstar 80s, two white leather designs that add blue and red accents instead of the Rod Laver-style green hits on the earlier drops. Both sets are classic Three Stripes through and through and you’ll be able to pick these up at select stateside retailers soon, as Japan’s VA reports they’re in stock now.

A Bathing Ape is known for their reinterpretations of American classics that have over the years included a variety of adidas-inspired designs, but this latest release sees Nigo connect with The Brand with the Three Stripes to collaborate on one of the ones he borrowed. The Bape x adidas Originals Superstar 80s ‘B-Sides’ is uncharacteristically calm for a Bathing Ape release, but then again, a quick look back over their recent offerings elicits a similar reaction. A simple off-white suede with navy blue leather accents and just a hint of gold on the tongue is a can’t miss colorway for summer, though they’re expected to hit retailers toward the tail end of the dog days with an August 13th scheduled release.
