Nike Sportswear and its All Conditions Gear line have been tearing up the cold weather months in recent years, but that’s something we practically take for granted given how long ACG has been doing its thing and how dominant Nike is in general. But they’re not the only brand allocating serious attention to the growing boot sector, and the Swoosh’s biggest competitor has no lack of winter-ready options at its disposal this year. Here are three new styles spread across two silhouettes from the Brand with the Three Stripes, as the adidas Originals Winter Ball adds a blackout edition to go along with the navy joints we showed you last week, as well as a black release for the adi Navvy Quilted Boot. The 2010s will go down as the decade when sneaker manufacturers finally realized that our most precious grails have no business interacting with winter weather beyond a ride on the UPS truck, and have launched into earnest trail and boot production each winter. The latest addition to the new wave of sneaker boots is the adidas Originals Winter Star, an ’80s basketball throwback complete with Dellinger webbing whose water-resistant upper, D-ring-ish eyelets and PrimaLoft sockliner are a far cry from the original Conductor or Metro Attitude.
