Gift giving is more of a Christmas tradition than New Year’s, but we did indeed recieve a gift from adidas Originals shortly after the calendar flipped to 2012 in the form of a ZX 8000 preview for later this year that’s on par with Three Stripes’ best in-house designs in recent memory. It turns out that we’ll be getting not one but (at least) two adidas Originals ZX 8000s done in that style for the second half of the year, and htis new tonal blue revelation has the same premium feel thanks to rich suede on the upper along with stately caramel brown leather accents. These share the same white/black midsole/outsole setup and will hit retailers for the fall/winter season, so be sure to check back with Sneaker News for word on their availability. via EUkicks

It might have been a bit overshadowed in recent months with siblings playing their roles in the adidas Originals 10th Anniversary celebration along with the Consortium resurrection, but don’t think for one second that the adidas Originals ZX 8000 can’t hold its own with the best classic running silhouettes out there. These new 8Ks come off looking more ‘Mammoth’ than ‘Tabula Rasa’ thanks to an extra-nappy grey suede construction that expertly blends in the extra neutral hits from brown leather on the tongue and ankle thanks to the adjacent brick red that gives this shoe a warm finishing touch. Have a closer look at them after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for the US release date on this fall/winter ’12 drop. via RegularOlTy

adidas Originals and Tokyo-based sneaker specialists atmos have collaborated several times over the past couple years, each project utilizing some materials resulting in a ‘G-SNK’ designation. It stands forglow-in-the-dark snake, which is critical to the design of this new atmos x adidas Originals ZX 8000, their second take on the classic runner. They use a similar material blocking pattern to the OG ‘Aqua’-styled pair that just released, though the GITD snake details here are even more important given the shoe’s relatively simple colorway. This time around you can expect a November ship date from atmos; will you look to grab a pair when they inevitably end up on the secondary market?

For Jordanheads, Nike SB fiends, Vans fanatics and other brand loyalists, you might glance at this latest drop from adidas Originals and feel like you’ve just seen these. But that just means you’re a regular Sneaker News reader who saw our profile of the MEGA Torsion RV whose colorway was inspired by one of the OG ZX 8000 colorways. And now less than six months later, there’s a new release that’s even closer to the original, but still offers a twist of its own. The adidas for atmos ZX 8000 G-SNK takes the late ’80s ‘Aqua’ look and applies a scaley texture to the overlay sections. And as detail-oriented readers will already know from the ‘G-SNK’ designator, this was done to keep with the ongoing collaboration’s use of glow-in-the-dark snakeskin. Check out more images after the jump and get your passport in order because these will hit atmos in late October.

The process of taking classic retro models and beefing them up with boot-like additions seems to be getting more and more common, and will no doubt ramp up in the coming winter months. A bit ahead of the curve comes the adidas Originals ZX 8000 wrapped in smooth brown leather that combines with d-ring laces to give them a very outdoorsy feel. This one is a far-reach from the classic trainer look typically exuded by the adidas Originals ZX 8000, but the release works by transforming the shoe into an entirely different context. Check out the photos after the jump and let us know what you think of this new look for the adidas ZX 8000, which is available now at Afew.

The Star Wars x adidas Originals collection continues to push the envelope in that space where streetsmart aesthetics meet Saga symbolism and this latest release is among the best representations of its character muse yet. The Star Wars x adidas ZX 8000 ‘Emperor’ is an homage to the evil Palpatine and his Force lightning, the electrified blue midsoles giving way to a glow in the dark bottom while the rest is done in clean black nubuck. A much prettier shoe than the man for whom they’re named, the Emperor ZX 8000s are available now at select Three Stripes dealers like Schuh-You.

The adidas ZX 8000 is something like Three Stripes’ Nike Air Max 97 or New Balance 1500s: among the techiest of the brand’s flagship retro running series yet not as widely seen as some of its predecessors. This latest pair comes in a colorway that stands out even amongst adidas’ other high contrast looks this season, a black and grey base that adds yellow and aqua accent hits for something approaching a New Orleans Hornets away feel. Click through to get a better look at the latest ZX8000 and grab yours from select adidas Originals retailers like Schuh-You.

Sneaker News showed you an upcoming adidas Originals ZX 8000 last week that features a new Torch-like mesh on its toe, and while this new pair offers a unique material choice in its own right, the effect is more aesthetic than performance-oriented. This new ZX8000 features the bright Collegiate Red framing its toe and side panels, both of which are done in a translucent white material that hides the latter’s Three Stripes. Couple that with a logo-less heel and you’ve got an interesting contrast between the shoe’s primary colorway and its subtle use of branding. Click through to get a better look and stick with Sneaker News for the US release date; they should hit select shops in March. via SdG
