Italia Independent x adidas ZX Flux “Houndstooth Camo”

October 8th, 2014 by | No comments

adidas italia houndstooth camo Italia Independent x adidas ZX Flux Houndstooth Camo

Not all of the Italia Independent x adidas ZX Flux pairs are upfront about their European heritage. This one for example doesn’t have the red, white, and green branding anywhere except for on the insoles. The shoe is more concerned with camouflage patterns than it is with patriotic arrays – the upper has some scattered houndstooth icons that float over a more conventional camo print. See more angles on this pair of adidas Originals below the break and import them now from SNKRS if you approve.

For all the custom colors and photo prints that have shown up on the adidas ZX Flux, not too much has been done as far as fiddling with the Three Stripes branding on the side goes. Finally changing that is Italia Independent, who have opted to plant their country’s colors across that logo to go with this wild zebra version. Remember that this isn’t the only pair that they’ve been given – there are six Italia Independent x adidas ZX Fluxes total. Have a look at the “Zebra” below and tell us which pair in the set is your favorite.

After all of the success that the adidas Originals ZX Flux saw this past year, you knew multiple collaborations had to be coming to the running sneaker rooted in three stripe history. The latest look for fall is an eclectic one thanks to the innovators over at Italia Independent outfitting the silhouette in a number of crazy prints and patterns, each more vibrant than the next. This “Houndstooth” pair is probably the most low-key of the six shoe bunch, thanks to a navy and black upper allowing a clean off-white midsole to finish things off. The look comes with a nice translucent royal outsole too. Stick around after the break for more detailed photos and be on the lookout for this pair to arrive at select shops on October 15th.

The list of achievements by the adidas Originals ZX Flux has been nothing short of astounding, but the breakthrough sneaker isn’t stopping yet. Piling on top of the impressive print releases, the revolutionary #mizxflux, and the various iterations of the silhouette (NPS, Winter, etc.) is this new reflective upper material that shines like never before. Typical “reflective” materials merely shine a bright white, but adidas Originals has created this incredible new style that hits us with visuals we’ve yet to experience on a shoe. Inspired by the Xenopeltis snake, this new take on reflective uppers features an iridescent color-fade with vivid light. What’s more is that this “Xenopeltis Reflective” would look incredible on anything, so would you like to see adidas put this on other silhouettes and even apparel? adidas ZX Flux Winter “Cordura”

Look at the ZX Flux category and you’ll find one of the most diverse sneakers consistently releasing today. The three stripes found a winner in the 80s retro running reference, and even though the second iteration looks to separate itself from the traditional aesthetic by ditching the heel support, that doesn’t mean that the original is going anywhere. adidas continues to experiment on the model, as Cordura fabric arrives in the latest look that gives the sneaker a trail shoe feel thanks to a new lacing system in an effort to get ready for winter. Add in a splash of suede for a heavier branding presence and this change of pace is something to be excited about. Check out more of this adidas ZX Flux outfitted in cordura after the break and know that while a stateside release isn’t confirmed yet, they’re available via Suppa right now.

Perhaps the most vibrant pair of the adidas Originals ZX Flux thus far was the most popular in the “Prism” printed colorway. If that’s the case, then where will this Italia Independent x adidas ZX Flux “Animal” pair rank in comparison? The Italia Independent Collection is a vast one. With six total pairs of the adidas ZX Flux in store for an October 15th release,  a number of materials and builds are utilized, but this animal aesthetic is by far the easiest to see. A bevy of wildlife prints ranging from leopard on the toebox to a tiger stripe look in the midsection stand out while a color gradient clashes with the pink outsole. Hit the click for a full look and be on the lookout for this pair to arrive at select shops like Suppa on 10/15.

You’ve heard plenty this year about the efforts of adidas, and how that brand is “back” as a result of their ongoing moves in recruiting new talent and nailing modern designs. Much noise has already been made about the partnerships planned from the powerful trio of Kanye, Pharrel, and Nigo. The brand has had no shortage of major hits this year in terms of new footwear – the adidas ZX Flux and the various BOOST models are slowly becoming ubiquitous on the lifestyle side of things. On top of those developments, word got out today that the brand has just acquired top Nike designers Denis Dekovic, Marc Dolce, and Mark Miner, and will be opening up a new “creative design studio” in Brooklyn as the home of this new talent.
