Afew has gotta be one of the best in the game as far as shops cranking out gear that pays homage to your favorite sneaker releases. Coming long after their Nike Sportswear “Legends” tote, the shop has this time come together with Kwills to whip up a tee paying homage to some of the greatest Asics Gel Lyte III colorways of all time. The shirt will be up for grabs at their 2013 Japan Day celebration there in Dussledorf on May 24th, an event accompanied by a BBQ, a showcase of their Top 50 Asics Gel release, and a display of vintage Asics heat. Get more images after the jump and remember that Afew is the only place to get it.

What does it take for a sneaker to reach legendary status? For some it’s a personal thing; the pairs that earn the most wear tied in with unforgettable moments. For others it’s about the culture at large and which releases people clamor over and yearn for long after they’re gone. Whatever the qualifiers are for you, you can probably agree on the models selected for the Afew x Nike Sportswear Legends Bag, a tote sporting some classic Swoosh silos like the Nike Dunk High, Nike Air Max 1, and Nike Air Flow just to name a few. Hit the jump for the photos and vid and pick up the bag now at Afew.

You hear a lot these days about the merits of sneakers made here in the good old USA, and as it turns out at least a few folks out in Europe are just as proud to go the DIY route with their runners. The project in question is the Afew x Koi Klub x Asics Gel Lyte III ‘Reworked‘, which brings Japan’s Koi Klub (who in turn brought with them plenty of premium materials) to Afew of Germany to suit up the Asics Gel Lyte III with their signature look. The result is very much a labor of love, a red, white, and black pair that was even shaped a bit differently in order to get the silhouette more in line with the OG. Click through for more looks as well as some video background of the Afew x Koi Klub Asics Gel Lyte III ‘Reworked’ and let us know what you think in the comments, and if you’re happily situated by the Afew store, check these out in person as they will be on display tomorrow at the in-store event.

Thanks to standouts like Ronnie Fieg’s tonal mastery, 24 Kilates’ delicious packages and the various guest spots from European boutiques, the Asics Gel Lyte III collaborations have come to signify top-notch quality. But even those notable drops have an uphill climb to catch up with at least a portion of the upcoming tag team effort from Afew and Koi Klub. These new images depict the Afew x Koi Klub x GL3 being assembled by hand courtesy of professional cobblers and saddlers that’ll be part of the Saturday, June 2nd launch event in Düsseldorf. Click through for a better view and let us know if you plan to import these after this weekend’s retail drop.

Yeah we’ve got at least one steady stream of collabo Asics models here in the US, but the folks around the rest of the world have a much easier time grabbing these kind up team-ups. This latest brings in two oustide entities, Koi Klub of Japan and Afew out in Germany, to work on the beloved split-tongue banger the Asics Gel Lyte III in celebration of Germany’s “Japan Day” on June 2nd. The colorblocking is apparently anchored by the Japanese aspect, their Nisshōki flag oozing through the details with the red, white, and black palette as well as the circular hit towards the heel. Click through for the teaser of the Afew x Koi Klub x Asics Gel Lyte III, which will launch at the Japan Day celebration on June 2nd at Afew in Dussledorf, coinciding with some Japanese BBQ and an exhibition by artist Yoske Nishiumi.

After re-opening its store after a brief renovations (the glow-in-the-dark floor being just one of the sick structural elements of the venue), Afew (formerly Schuh-You) has held a few sick events at its retail spot, like the Vintage Gallery Event (hands down one of the best sneaker exhibits of the entire year) and more recently, the MAX100 Launch Party. Matt Stevens’ MAX100 book has created positive waves across the sneaker community, particularly with Air Max 1 fans (like, everyone in Europe!); Afew opened its doors for a special pop-up exhibit showcasing some of Stevens’ best works from the book while offering some food, drinks, and live DJ’ed tunes. Check out a quick re-cap of the Afew x MAX100 Launch Exhibit below and don’t forget to cop one of the limited edition MAX100 books here. via EuKicks.

We’ve seen Nike Sportswear apply all manner of updates and tech-oriented additions to its classic running lineup, but the most detail oriented sneakerheads will remind the general population that the silhouette of almost all of these models has been altered slightly as construction methods have improved. An even smaller group, then, would be able to spot the subtle differences between the original Asics Gel Saga II from two decades ago when compared to the new models slated for release this Saturday, August 27th. Stores like Afew will only get six pairs of each OG Gel Saga II colorway and they’ve put together a short video depicting the shift in the model’s vamp. Click through to see what’s new and let us know if you’re going to try and secure a pair of these.
