AIR JORDAN 1 PHAT The Air Jordan 1 Phat is a slightly retooled version of the classic Air Jordan 1 silhouette. The primary difference in the design is the extra padding included on the inside of the sneaker. The Air Jordan 1 Phat has been the go-to model for Retro selections of the standard Air Jordan 1 silhouette in recent years.

The two highlight Retro releases of the month of June will be the Air Jordan XII ‘Obsidian’ and the Air Jordan IV ‘Military’, and based on this first look at Jordan Brand’s June 2012 footwear line-up, we can see that those themes have indeed spilled onto its lifestyle and Team releases. Shoes like the Air Jordan Retro V.1 and the Jordan 1 Flight Mid will arrive in ‘Military’ uniforms, while the Air Jordan XII Clave and Jordan Flight 23 Classic will don the darker Obsidian to match the original ’97 colorway. There’s still plenty of other releases to note, like the Melo M8 and Jordan 1 Phat in classic Bulls attire, so peep all the Jordan Brand June 2012 Footwear and we’ll keep you updated with more releases.

Jordan Brand can get rather out-of-the-box and creative with their colorways, but anything that can be compared to a classic Chicago Bulls uniform will always get our attention. It’s a colorway that never gets old, and in this case, it’s on a shoe that never gets old, because while we’ve seen the Air Jordan 1 in countless forms, it never ceases to amaze. This upcoming June 2012 takes the Phat mold and uses a black tumbled leather upper with a white canvas material at the center panel, with a nice contrast provided by the red/black elephant swoosh print (all the rage on the Nike Air Force 1 iD). More shots of this upcoming release below, so take a look and expect ‘em in June.

Club Purple is making its mark on the 2012 Jordan Brand lineup in subtle ways, first helping to establish the surprise hit Son of Mars and later returning on the Air Jordan VII model whose red hits alongside have earned them a ‘Raptors’ nickname. This third drop comes right in the middle, a brand new Air Jordan 1 Phat that’s arguably a better fit for the Toronto-inspired taxonomy and one that’s quite a bit more gender neutral than its colorway would seem on paper. Details like Elephant print on the side panel Swooshes and the new multilayered mesh we’ve seen on several recent AJ1s connect these to the Air Jordan Legacy, and you’ll find them available now at select JB retailers like New York’s Extra Butter.

The Air Jordan 1 Phat has assumed the role of monthly footwear staple from Jordan Brand, and each month Jordan Brand manages to put out a set of colorways that are both strikingly original and mildly nostalgic. We’ll start with the Black/Siren Red version, which clearly looks like a throwback the original ‘Banned’ version (but with a little pizzazz in the red hue), but the second Wolf Grey/Ultraviolet-New Green has that out-of-this-world futuristic appeal that provides a nice balance to the Siren Red joints. Tying both releases together is a funky mesh netting on the upper and tongue. ot a small-footed female sneakerhead in mind? Extra Butter has both in stock right now so head there to get yours, or see what’s up for grabs on eBay.

Four new Air Jordan 1 Phat midtops popped up yesterday on Sneaker News, a quartet of holiday season releases that offered a couple of novel colorblocking patterns (a nice twist on a foundational model that for a while was releasing new designs so often they were being compared to Nike Sportswear’s Dunks). But with Jordan Brand paring back these, the AJF series and a few other hybrids in favor of an unprecedented flurry of Air Jordan Retros, fans of this ‘Fresh Since 1985′ model should be psyched by what’s around the corner. Each of these feature ripstop nylon side panels, and the set includes familiar palettes ranging from ‘Olive’ and UNC to Iowa and Sacramento-leaning getups, and all four are waiting below in additional images. A recent Air Jordan V ‘Grape to Aqua’ custom job applied the darker Air Jordan VIII-born look to the Fives that first featured purple and aqua accents, and so we can’t help wondering: what would either of these have looked like with a grey base instead? The kind of look we’re fairly surprised to not be seeing more frequently given today’s sneaker trends, this new Air Jordan 1 Phat GS comes through with an indirect answer to the question, its Wolf Grey, Ultraviolet and New Green combo offering a modernized approach to this classic style that’s among the Air Jordan Legacy’s most popular non-Bulls looks. Check out this new AJ1 Phat for girls after the jump and then find them at select Jordan Brand stores like CNCPTS.

Usually the Air Jordan samples we show you are those that have been scrapped on the cutting room floor and will likely never see a release. This basic Air Jordan 1 Phat, however, will in fact release later this year as part of the Fall 2012 product line (although that could be subject to change). This Air Jordan 1 is as no-frills as you can get – a tonal-black get-up combining synthetic leather and nubuck for a simple colorway that would easily insert itself into casual/lifestyle sneaker rotations everywhere. Check out the extra shots of this ‘Blackout’ sample below and if you want to get a jump on this release, hit up the listing from marcieandlouise on eBay.
