The Air Jordan 2012 Lite made its global debut in July in an assumed ‘Superhero’ Pack of colorways as well as a USA arranged version. This September, the 2K12 Lite will take on the ‘Team’ approach as we get a preview of nine basic colorways – black uppers with a secondary color unit on the midsole. The ties to collegiate squads is pretty apparent here (Orange for Syracuse, University Blue for UNC, Navy Blue for Georgetown, and so on), but all nine are certainly ready for a spot in your streetwear sneaker rotation. Check out all nine below and expect them to hit retailers this September at Jordan Brand retailers at a $150 MSRP.

As far as we know, Jordan Brand does not have any member of the Marvel Universe on its roster of athletes. In fact, the closest thing on the JB squad to The Incredible Hulk is Pittsburgh Steelers’ Lamarr Woodley (a rather large fellow who makes a healthy living smashing running backs and QBs into the ground), and although this new Air Jordan 2012 Lite has no connection to Bruce Banner’s alter ago on any level, the Green/Purple is an instant reminder of the mutant superhero. This Air Jordan 2012 Lite is just one of many energetic colors of the AJ2012 Lite that are seemingly inspired by classic superheros, and although Jordan Brand confirmed a release date for earlier this month, these haven’t popped up at stores just yet, so check out the images below and we’ll keep you posted on their U.S. arrival as they’ve become available at Asian retailers. Has the Air Jordan 2012 proper been laid to rest? It’s been some time since we’ve seen or heard from the sneaker, pretty much limiting any new pairs to the NIKE iD creations going down out there in the community. In its stead is the Air Jordan 2012 Lite, a sleeker silhouette that shaves off some of the golf shoe inspiration in favor of a shiny Flywire exterior. Following up the vaguely superhero themed set we saw this month and that Olympic looking one right around the corner, three more are on tap for August. Two pairs split the difference between the red, white, and blue with a third more stoic dressed in black and white. As we approach the July 19th ‘Superhero Pack’ release, we’re reminded that in less than two weeks, real life mutant freaks will take over London in the premier global athletic competition. So while the Air Jordan 2012 Lite is visually impactful in Flash, Hulk and Batman colorups, the supermen we’ll be most concerned with in the coming weeks are those whose jerseys match this USA Basketball colorway. Jordan Brand won’t have Dwyane Wade to wear these during the London Games; might we see Carmelo Anthony or Tyson Chandler show up rocking this white, Obsidian and Gym Red design? Yesterday Sneaker News hit you with a barrage of special footwear releases from Nike and Jordan Brand that will serve as the preface to the 2012 Olympic Games, which will kick off at the end of the month. Kicking things off for Jordan Brand is a quartet of Air Jordan 2012 Lite colorways representing various countries, all set for a release as early as this Thursday, July 5th, at an MSRP of $150. Following that release is the USA-inspired release, which hits stores on July 19th. We’ve seen four other designs in the three months since our initial preview of the Air Jordan 2012 Lite and today we have a second set of photos of that first colorway to share with you. Featuring a crisp Orlando Magic-leaning color palette, this Air Jordan 2012 Lite utilizes royal blue on the ‘overlay’ sections that instead of being suede or leather in the case of the AJ2012 flagship, are merely implied here on the Flywire shell. The Air Jordan 2012 Lite is set for a worldwide debut this July as we lead up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The AJ2012 Lite could be spotted on the feet of a number of participating countries vying for Basketball Gold, as we’ve seen a Red/Yellow ‘China’ colorway (a country with which the USA squad may be set on a collision course with). As we get more detailed viewings of this slimmed-down Air Jordan 2012, we can note that footwear designers have gone with the multi-dimensional approach, as we’ve seen shoes like the Fly Wade 2 and Nike LeBron arriving in a series rather than a singular shoe.
