NBA Feet: Around The League 2/13 2/14

Linsanity has overwhelmed the NBA and pro-sports newsreel as the Asian sensation continues to prove that his six-game streak is no fluke. On Valentine’s Day, Jeremy Lin blew a kiss of death to Raptors fans with a game-winning three-pointer to finish off the game while wearing the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 Low (with rumors of a ‘Linsanity’ PE swirling around). Amare Stoudemire and his Nike Air Max Sweep Thru was welcomed back into the line-up as he contributed a very Amare-like stat-line of 21 and 9. LeBron James rocked a Red/Black PE of the Nike LeBron 9 as the Heat finally turned the table on the Bucks, while the Wizards’ Jordan Crawford switched up his rotation by wearing the Nike Huarache Free Bball 2012 in the Black/Royal colorway. Of course, we’ve got a lot more for you below, like Al Harrington’s LeBron 9 iD, Amir Johnson’s White/Red Kobe VII, and Nate Robinson’s Air Jordan X, so check out some of the best NBA kicks from the previous two nights and let us know who rocked the best kicks! via Yahoo!

Jordan Brand Coaches Vs. Cancer PEs

Beaverton has a history of uniting behind a cause through their footwear releases, take the Nike Air Mag or the ongoing Livestrong collection for example. The latest in their campaign for cancer awareness comes in the form of this trio from Jordan Brand, a set that will be seen on feet for NCAA teams North Carolina, Georgetown, Marquette and Cal in solidarity with the Coaches vs. Cancer movement. Included in the trio is the Jordan Play in These II, the Air Jordan 8.0, and the newly rolled out Jordan CP3.V (the pink colorway of which we already gave you a look at in our extensive preview). Follow us after the jump to get a look at all three of the PE sneakers included in the Coaches vs. Cancer pack.

Air Jordan 8.0 ‘Aqua’ – Release Reminder

Among the many reasons for copping the Air Jordan 8.0, consider the fact that it’s been a while now since we’ve seen the standard Air Jordan VIII silhouette on shelves. This updated version of the eighth entry in Michael Jordan’s legacy series breaks the dry spell, with the latest colorway to release being the coveted aqua combo. Reception on these has been a bit more positive than other Air Jordan hybrid models coming down the pipeline, perhaps due in part to the aforementioned scarcity of 8′s over the past couple of years. If you’ve been eager anticipating the Air Jordan 8.0 ‘Aqua’ then it’s about that time, with the sneakers officially dropping tomorrow, January 7th. You can pick yourself up a pair now from online sellers like shoejocky on eBay.

Air Jordan 8.0 Aqua Arriving @ Retailers

Say what you want about the hybridization of Air Jordan classics, but at least they bring the OG models more up to date from a tech standpoint. Let’s face it, if you show up to ball rocking a pair of Air Jordan VIII’s you’re not exactly getting the most of what current basketball sneaker construction has to offer. For that reason alone the Air Jordan 8.0 in the beloved ‘Aqua’ colorway is worth checking out, with the black and blue look intact on this modern take on MJ’s eighth. Follow us after the jump for a few additional views and let us know in the comments where you stand with this hybrid model, which is starting to trick in at retailers like Oneness.

Air Jordan 8.0 Black Bright Concord Aquatone

The Air Jordan hybrid shoe will always be a polarizing entity for as long as the Air Jordan sneaker remains relevant. With so many purists of the sneaker game (and purists of those purists), introducing a redesigned model bearing the same name as the original is always a tough task. That same applies with automobiles and clothing – even the McDonald’s McRib Quickstrikes always seem to draw some sort of juxtaposition with the OG. October’s release of the Air Jordan 8.0 was a bit underwhelming to say the least, with all six Air Jordan 8.0 releases thus far sitting patiently on store shelves, but perhaps the ‘Aqua’ should draw some deserved attention to the shoe. Set to arrive this January, the Air Jordan 8.0 ‘Aqua’ will be a fresh new start for the Air Jordan 8.0 in more ways than one, so take a peek at these new detailed angles below and let us know what you think. via Kinetics.

Air Jordan 8.0 Aqua New Images

If the Air Jordan VIII Aqua traveled 19 years into the future, it would see its ‘doppleganger’ in the Air Jordan 8.0. Featuring some structural upgrades like the breathable mesh panels and Flywire-laden crossing mid-foot straps, the Air Jordan 8.0 captures both the nostalgic flavor and new-age design that has been the formula for most of Jordan Brand’s non-Retro releases over the last few years. Set to release this January, 2012, the Air Jordan 8.0 ‘Aqua’ features the paint-splatter bumper that extends to the midfoot, which doubles as a spring plate for performance-friendly push. We’ve got additional images for you after the jump, so take a look and let us know if this ‘Aqua’ colorway provides some ‘umph’ to this new model.

Air Jordan 8.0 Black White | Release Reminder

The Air Jordan 8.0 launched this past October in a slew of team-based colorways, and it was even chosen as the ‘Carrier Classic’ representative for Jordan Brand. The latest in the Air Jordan ‘point-oh’ series, the Air Jordan 8.0 is an updated version of the ’93 classic, using Flywire equipped mid-foot straps and a ventilated mesh upper (addressing the ventilation issues with the Air Jordan VIII). It also features a paint-splatter graphic, replacing the original design that made the Air Jordan VIII such a standout. The Black/White colorway will hit Jordan Brand retailers tomorrow, so take a look at a new angles below and pick up a pair now from empire_sneakers07 on eBay.

NCAA Feet: UNC vs. Michigan State Carrier Classic Recap

College basketball fans were in for an amazing treat when #1 ranked UNC faced off against Michigan State atop an aircraft carrier in Coronado, California. Dubbed the Carrier Classic, this sporting event was a special way to honor the members of the Armed Forces on Veterans Day; the significance of the game seemed paltry to the true purpose of November 11th, as thousands of military veterans as well as President Barack Obama were in attendance, celebrating the remembrance of our nation’s most courageous individuals in a unique way.

Both UNC and Michigan State took the outdoor court wearing the Carrier Classic collection uniforms and sneakers, but also spotted were a number of notable sneakers that were clearly from the players’ own collections; The Air Jordan XI ‘Cool Grey’, Air Jordan V ‘Wolf Grey, Air Jordan XIII White/University Blue, Air Jordan 2011 UNC PE, and the Nike Zoom Kobe VI were spotted alongside the Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 and Air Jordan 8.0. Check out a full recap of the game and the awe-inspiring outdoor basketball court below and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for more NCAA Feet features as the college basketball season rolls on! via Yahoo!.

Jordan Brand/Nike Basketball Carrier Classic Collection

Earlier today, Sneaker News showed you the Air Jordan 8.0 and Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Supreme from the Carrier Classic Pack – a set of sneakers that will be worn by the players of the UNC Tar Heels and Michigan State Spartans during Friday evening’s season opener. Alongside the two sneakers is the Carrier Classic Collection by Jordan Brand and Nike Basketball; both team jerseys feature the digital camouflage detailing with special team-specific graphics on the rear side of the jersey. Both jerseys are made with recycled polyester; for a point of reference, each full jersey uses thirty-six plastic bottles. The Carrier Classic jerseys are just a precursor to a lengthy plan set by Nike and Jordan Brand; in 2011, they expect to double its usage of recycled polyester, diverting more than 440 million plastic bottles from waste landfills. In addition to the Fall 2011 NCAA uniforms, the Spring 2012 Platinum Elite uniforms will continue usage of recycled materials, with its Elite short being made entirely of plastic bottles. Continue reading for a detailed look at the Carrier Classic uniforms and kicks and be sure to tune into the game tomorrow at 7:00 PM EST.

Air Jordan 8.0 + Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Carrier Classic Pack

The UNC Tar Heels and the Michigan State Spartans will square off this Friday evening in San Diego, CA. What makes the game so special? It’s being played atop an aircraft carrier. Seriously, that’s a whole different level of ‘cool’. Not only does UNC and MSU open its season, but the game festivities itself is a gesture honoring the veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces; seating is limited to just 7,000 spectators – one of which has been confirmed to be the president himself. The game, dubbed the Carrier Classic, will feature the Tar Heels (a Jordan Brand school) and the Spartans (a Nike Basketball school) wearing select colorways of the Air Jordan 8.0 and the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Supreme; we’ve detailed both before, but this midnight, the Carrier Classic Pack will be available for purchase. The two shoes will be sold separately, but are both given the Carrier Classic Pack designation for their role in the iconic game. More images below, so take a look and hit up Nikestore tonight to get yours.
