The Jordan Brand Classic 2013 festivities for Saturday centered around three separate games, each of which showcased young basketball talent from around the world. Kicking things off was the International Game, which pulled at a player pool of 15 and 16-year olds from around the world. Afterward was the Regional Game, a showcase of prep school talent from the greater New York area. And of course there was the main event-the Jordan Brand Classic National game, which was a riotous peformance featuring high-school all-stars like Tyler Ennis, Andrew Wiggins, Julius Randle, and Jabari Parker. Part of the equation Jordan Brand Classic 2013 is basketball, and the showcasing of young talent and future superstars. But another part of the equation, one just as crucial, is the goal of bringing together a mini-community of athletes and providing them with a once-in-a-lifetime experience crafted by the Jordan Brand. Leading up to the trio of games on Saturday, the kids bopped around NYC and discovered the heritage of the brand throughout the city, from a sit down event with Spike Lee and Sway out in Brooklyn to a trip to Gleason’s Gym for some boxing with Andre Ward.
Of course yet another aspect of the event is its star studded status, one that was particularly prevalent this year thanks to this year’s New York/Brooklyn locale. Countless athletes, rappers, and the like were spotted courtside (Amar’e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, Victor Cruz, and Fabolous just to name a few). And then there was the Drake concert immediately following the final game which brought everybody out of their seats at the culmination of the evening. The 2013 Jordan Brand Classic is underway as the International Game is currently up and running at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Jordan Brand outfitted the youngsters in this great PE colorway of the Air Jordan XX8 in black, red, and gold, with a the Jumpman circle logo revealed on the inner side of the zip-up bootie. Yet another great concept by the Jordan Brand squad, so check out an extra shot below and tune into the Jordan Brand Classic 2013 events throughout the day, with the main-event kicking off at 8 PM EST and television coverage on ESPN2.

After keeping quiet ever since the triple threat camo pack came out, the Air Jordan XX8 looks to be finally ready for some more retail love. Apparently this pair, the Air Jordan XX8 “Carbon Fiber”, is going to be releasing this Saturday, April 13th. Of course all Air Jordan XX8s are equipped with carbon fiber, but what makes this one so special is the arrival of a print inspired by said material on the upper shroud. Last week we filled you in on two special PE colorways of the Air Jordan XX8 that would be worn by Oak Hill Academy and Montrose Christian during their Quarterfinal match-up in the National High School Invitational. It appears that those special editions have hit retail shelves, marking the first graphic-print Air Jordan XX8 to release to the public. Featuring a wild print on the upper and a white inner lining and a black inner bootie, this Air Jordan XX8 might be the closest Chicago Bulls colorway we’ve seen yet, but there’s certainly more Air Jordan XX8 concepts to arrive in the future! This Thursday, two Jordan Brand outfitted High Schools will meet in a Quarterfinal match-up in the National High School Invitational while wearing these amazing PE colorways of the Air Jordan XX8. Oak Hill Academy will don the red colorway while Montrose Christian will rock the green, but both feature that wild graphic that reminds us of that Air Jordan VIII-inspired XX8 PE that we spotted during the 2013 NBA All-Star Weekend. The San Francisco 49ers fell short in the Playoffs again, but if the last two seasons are any indication, the 49ers are poised to take the next step up – a Superbowl Trophy. With Anquan Boldin lining up with the Niners, Michael Crabtree will definitely have more opportunity to make some big plays like he did against the Packers when he wore this insane PE version of the Air Jordan XX8. The red and white is expected, but the hints of neon green on the spikes of the cleats is a visual touch that only Nike seems to get right time after time. If the zipped-up or rolled-down look on the Air Jordan XX8 doesn’t fit your tastes, it’s all good because Jordan Brand is coming through with the “Lite” version later this year. It has that classic mid-top look with the exposed bootie playing the role of canvas as we get a nice clean look at a sick camouflage pair in University Blue and Black. These are definitely a UNC Tar Heel delicacy, but with no confirmation on the Tar Heels wearing these during the Tournament, we’ll have to wait til later to get a better look.
