AIR JORDAN II The Air Jordan II was released in 1986 as the second sneaker in Michael Jordan’s line with Nike. Like its predecessor the model was led by designers Bruce Kilgore and Peter Moore, this time coming with a much more unique creation that toned down the Swoosh branding quite a bit. The sneakers were famously originally produced in Italy, boasting fine leather construction for a more luxurious feel.

One of Michael Jordan’s greatest off-the-court achievements was building up his name as a brand and participating in ad campaigns for some of the most recognized products in the world. We’ve seen Jordan vouch for Coca Cola, Mickey D’s, Ballpark hot-dogs, and for those not about that bacon-neck life, Hanes. These vintage poster ads of Michael are especially dope since they feature OG Air Jordans in the ads, namely the three shoes that featured ‘Nike Air’ somewhere on the upper of the shoes. Take a look at these sweet finds below and get your bids on in these listings from ace-in-the-hole on eBay.

The Air Jordan II definitely has some catching up to do in the retro realm. Between 2012 and 2013, it’s the only model in the range between Air Jordans number one and fourteen to not get a bringback in one form or another. Jason Sudeikis hasn’t let his appreciation for the model dim though, as proved by this recent wear out on the streets of NYC. Get a couple angles of Jason Sudeikis, Olivia Wilde, and the former’s sneaker choice right after the jump and let us know if you’re hoping for the Air Jordan II to come back some time soon.

Aside from all the latest updates on the most anticipated upcoming sneakers, the Sneaker News enjoys dipping into the past to the era when Nike was just coming out of its innovative shell and certain design cues could be easily pinpointed to certain eras. Bright neon splatter colors are a Nike Tennis thing, when the Air Tech Challenge line emerged, and super high-top ankles and such were definitely a late 80′s-early 90′s thing. So as we examine this unknown sample from the 1980′s, we’re looking at the designs features that might help us pinpoint exactly when this sample came to light. 1987-1988 looks to be a solid starting point given the cues to the Air Jordan II in the ridges on the heel and the upper-most lace eyelet being an Air Jordan III thing, but the midsole isn’t as much “basketball” as it is a tennis/aerobics sort of design (although the “pivot point” on the outsole indicates basketball in the post Air Force 1 era). The Nike branding is also an interesting observation, as a Swoosh isn’t used on the shoe with the exception of the tongue label and midsole heel. Any guesses? Check out the images below and let’s see if you’ve got any good detective work in you by looking at more clues from supremexheat on eBay.

If you’re new to the Air Jordan game, you probably have a whole lot of catching up to do. With nearly every original Air Jordan already gone through the Retro cycle (with a few making several comebacks), the available options to build your Air Jordan collection could keep you busy for months – or you can cop this sick 97-pair collection in one fell swoop. This particular lot includes only the Air Jordan 1 through Air Jordan XIII in sizes 10.5-11.0, but nearly every pair brand spankin’ new and there’s some serious heat in here (’94 Retros, Eminem IIs, the original DMP, etc.). The asking price, however, is at $45,000, which boils down to $463.92 per pair, but the comfort of completing a sick library of Air Jordans in just one click might be too tempting if you have that sort of dough to spare (free shipping, though). Check out the entire collection below, and be sure to check the full listing from babiiicakes26 on eBay.

A lot of the Air Jordan X meets Air Jordan Y hybrids have taken a lot of heat over the last few years, but did you know that the cross-hybridizing experiments have been going back for ages? It probably started early on in Nike’s roots – perhaps as a way to cut costs or to speed up production – and this rare Air Jordan 1 prototype displays that sort of concept with the polyurethane midsole taken straight from the Air Jordan II. These likely date around the time of the Air Jordan 1-II cusp (around ’85 and ’86), but one thing to notice is that the upper logo states ‘Nike’ and not ‘Air’, but the non-Air models were given a ‘Sky’ distinction, reserved for kids sizes. Check out the full shot of this incredible vintage sample below and let us know what other Air Jordan hybrids you’d like to see.
