We’ve already seen plenty of sneaker-inspired iPhone cases done “minimalist” and outsole style, but these latest creations done in collaboration with Uncommon and online sneaker retailer SneakerSt. provide a “window” into something a bit more creative. Using the convenient placement of the Air units of the Air Max 90 and Air Jordan VI, the designers of these cases have arranged the image of the shoes to coincide with the iPhone camera eye for a pretty incredible set-up. All eight Playoff match-ups have moved beyond to Game 3 (the Indy/Orlando series are already gearing up for Game 4) and we’re starting to get a better idea of who will move up to the Second round and who will say good bye. We already showed you LeBron James’ PE of the Elite 9 and Kobe’s Purple/White ‘Supreme’ Kobe VII, but let’s take a look at what else was spotted over the last three nights of Playoff basketball; Dwyane Wade wore the White/Black/Red colorway Fly Wade 2 EV, while Landry Fields, who checked Wade on D most of the night, wore the Wolf Grey Kobe VII. Paul George finally swapped out to a Kobe VII iD was a fade option, while opponent Earl Clark wore the Nike Air Max Penny 1. Out West, OJ Mayo wore a PE of the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Elite, and in San Antonio, sneakerhead-duo DeJuan Blair and NBA Feet Rookie of the Year Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs to a W with the Black/Cement III and Air Jordan XII Low ‘Black/Nubuck’, respectively. We’ve witnessed quite a number of instances during which the sneaker community went up in arms regarding a certain amount of discrepancies when it comes to Retro releases. The White/Cement IV, for example, was under heavy scrutiny for months up until the release, despite it being a tit-for-tat reproduction of the original. That’s just the nature of the fastidious sneakerhead that demands perfection, so it’s safe to say that if last year’s Black Friday release of the Air Jordan III Black/Cement did in fact come out as nubuck, things would not have been very pretty. Not to say that a pair of AJ3s done up in nubuck would’ve been a bad idea (in fact, it would be rather interesting), but the Black/Cement III is generally viewed as an all-time classic that needs no sort ‘remastering’. Apparently Gilbert Arenas’ return to the NBA sparked a ‘stepping up’ of the sneaker games around the NBA, so let’s get to some of the big highlights of the weekend! Starting off with Air Jordan heat, Jordan Crawford of the Wizards rocked the Air Jordan V ‘Raging Bull’ – a current Final Four contestant in our March Madness tournament. Shannon Brown swapped Last Shots for the Black/Cement III, and Kendrick Perkins opted for the Chicago X. Monta Ellis whipped out the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’ for another go-around, Delonte West followed his Galaxy with the Air Max Uptempo 2 ‘Duke’ yet again, and Dwyane Wade rocked a new PE colorway of the upcoming Jordan Fly Wade 2 EV, previously referred to as the Jordan Fly Wade Flight PO. We just saw El Cappy’s take on applying the Air Jordan III’s ‘Black Cement’ colorway to the AJVI’s silhouette, so what would happen if you did the same thing to a shoe that only had the Six’ tongue? Sneaker customizer Sab-One turned his attention from the ever popular AJ6 to a model that uses its signature tongue in combination with a variety of other elements fromt the early Air Jordan Legacy to create the ‘Black Cement’ Jordan Spiz’ike. These came into existence when Sab copped the ‘Mars Blackmon’ Spizikes only to wear them once and return them to a near DS state. The relatively perfect condition made these a prime candidate for a colorway swap, and with Elephant print already on the toe and heel of these just like the Threes, the rest of the transition to a style like the one that took over last Black Friday was in the bag. We already showed you all the heat that the New York Giants rocked during the Superbowl XLVI Media Day (Chicago X, Concords, Playoff XIIIs, Spiz’ikes, LeBrons – you don’t want to miss it), but here’s a look at what the G-Men will rock on Game Day; of course, the standout is the Air Jordan III Black/Cement cleats, which will be worn by Defensive Lineman Dave Tollefson and Linval Joseph. Tinker Hatfield designed the Air Jordan VI, but has anyone given this two-decade veteran more time and attention in recent months as the customizer known as El Cappy? Eric Lowry just showed us his latest design earlier this week, a Freddy Krueger-inspired Six that’s just the latest in a long line of custom jobs he’s applied to this handiwork-friendly silhouette. The latest is somewhat similar to a theme we saw Lowry employ about two months ago, but instead of the all-over Elephant print on his ‘Cement’ customs, this Air Jordan III-inspired design sees the Three’s signature element restricted to the AJVI’s unmistakably angular midsole tooling. He also crafted the eyelets to resemble the III’s reinforcements, and with black/cement Elephant print G-Shock alongside, could this custom package rival some of Jordan Brand’s top-tier output? And while the most obvious question would be whether these best IVII’s similar effort, but might they also be the best custom AJ6s we’ve ever seen?
