Last night’s Lakers/Heat show was certainly a hot ticket in South Beach as notable hip-hop celebrities Lil’ Wayne and Ludacris were spotted at the game sitting -where else – courtside. Both spectators came to see the Kobe vs. LeBron duel, with Ludacris watching intently while wearing the Air Jordan VII ‘Olympic’ (dropping later this year) and Lil’ Wayne munching on some popcorn while wearing the Air Jordan III ‘Black/Cement’. Red/Blue shorts, sunglasses, a multi-colored beanie – it must’ve been a toned-down evening for Wayne, but Luda kept it clean by matching his t-shirt-and-jeans outfit with his kicks. Check out both celebrities after the jump and let us know who had the better ‘fit! via ESPN.

Not many have the cojones to take a pair of heavy duty scissors to their Air Jordan Retros, but Freehand Profit has steadily proven his skills as one of the best sneaker surgeons out there. He’s slowly building a quirky legacy as one of the most unique sneaker customizers out there, reconstituting Air Jordans into gas masks (what you do with them is entirely up to you). His latest creation and first release of 2012 is with the Air Jordan III Black/Cement, but if you’re already anticipating a ‘Concord’ gas mask, no need to fret because he’s confirmed those as well. Check out the gallery of his latest sneaker gas mask and if you want to add these to your collection of miscellaneous goodies, go to the Freehand Profit online shop.

Not long ago, we showed you some great Air Jordan III Black/Cement-inspired t-shirts to match this Black Friday’s big release. If you’re looking for more variety, here are two great selections from a name that’s well known for killer sneaker-inspired t-shirts – Vandal-A. The white t-shirt features Michael at the 1988 NBA All-Star Game, which Michael transformed into a one-man show in the Black/Cement III’s. He dropped 40 points en route to his first ever NBA All-Star Game MVP award – the first of three MVP awards he would win that season. The black t-shirt featured a red print of Tinker Hatfield’s original sketch for the Jumpman logo, which is significant because the AJ3 was Tinker’s first Air Jordan design and the first to feature the logo. Head on over to Vandal-A to cop yours and let us know which of the two you like better.

It is with good reason that the period between mid-November and the end of each calendar year is commonly called the ‘holiday season’. So many of the world’s local cultures have contributed to a melange of occasions suitable for celebrating, and the one that starts off the annual spike in retail sales starts later this week in the United States. But even if coming together during the winter results in increased sales, getting the major sneaker brands to cooperate is a task on the order of creating world peace. So Foot Locker‘s ‘Black Pack’ for Black Friday not only launches the store’s Kicksmas celebration in earnest, but it also manages the ambitious coordination of releases from adidas Basketball, Jordan Brand, Nike Basketball and Nike Sportswear. Dark colorways of the adidas adiZero Power Howard and adiZero Rose 2.0 join the Air Jordan III Retro ‘Black Cement’, Jordan 1 Flight in the same colorway, triple-black Nike LeBron 9s, Zoom Hyperdunk and Hyperfuse 2011s, the Total Air Foamposite Max also in black/anthracite, and John Wall’s Reebok Zig Encore. Last but not least is the ‘Binary Blue’ Zoom Rookie LWP, a model presumably included because it’s the darkest colorway on a model that has no ‘blackout’ edition (yet?). It’s a mouthful and enough to drain your wallet, and even if FL’s best wishes come true, it’s unlikely anyone will seek to complete this ‘pack’; so which ones are the must-haves?

Tinker Hatfield designed the Air Jordan III in response to Jordan’s request for an animal skin/leather on his shoes. Tinker responded with elephant print, which today remains as one of the most iconic visual details in the history of sneakers. Did Tinker have any idea that twenty-three years down the line, the Air Jordan III would be a family affair? The upcoming Black Friday release of the Air Jordan III Black/Cement will indeed be available in all sizes, with the PS and Toddler sizes being the only two version that won’t feature the visible Max Air. Here’s the full price breakdown; Mens will be $160, GS is set at $110, PS will be $70, the TD (toddler) joints will be a cool $50. Do you have plans of decking out your entire clan with these Holiday 2011 must-haves? Let us know after the jump and get your entire family set at retailers like Millenium Shoes, or see what’s available now on eBay.
